Cold going around with sore throat, stuffy nose?

Could also be allergy. I am taking Allegra and nasal spray to control.

I have it now. 15 weeks pregnant, Covid rapid tests are negative. Sore throat is better but the congestion and body aches are killing me.

We both had rapids and PCRs… I even went to Urgent Care on day 5 because I was having trouble believing it wasn’t Covid. All tests negative, but it was no fun. I’m guessing it’s because our immune systems weren’t used to all the germs!!!!

Yes, this seems to be the case for people who do lots of testing. But it’s true, you can get an illness that is not covid.

DH is a teacher and exposed often at school. DD woke up with a sore throat out of nowhere the day before a swim meet. By the end of the day she had a fever. She obviously skipped the swim meet the next day and I took her to urgent care where they tested for strep and COVID. Her at home rapid tests were negative but everyone I know with Omicron said they had a sore throat so I wanted to be sure. Nobody in our family or social circle had been sick. Even before test results came back the urgent care doc said she thought it was just a cold because they weren’t seeing a lot of COVID but they had been seeing a lot of colds that start as a very sore throat and then turn into head congestion. It was worth the peace of mind for us to know how to proceed. DD had a stuffy head for several days and then a runny nose. Lasted about 10 days.

My DS has been sick for about 3 weeks, Covid tests kept coming back negative, went to doc today beciss not getting better and thought the cold had maybe turned into a bacterial infection.

Sure enough Covid. Now that the mask mandates have been lifted I have a feeling it’s spreading like wildfire in the schools but they just aren’t sending out notifications anymore. And people just aren’t testing.

I did get a text from VA dept of health… so at least someone is tracking it.

I did an at home test and it was negative, but I feel pretty awful so just assuming I have it too.

It's like you've all forgotten about all the other viruses and infections that existed before we all had to distance and mask for two years, LOL!

Why are all of you so determined that everything is Omicron? It’s strange. And just not true. Other viruses exist.

Yes it’s a vast conspiracy. Please uncover what is really going on in the schools and in people’s homes. Omicron is everywhere and the people need to know!

+1000 I also wonder if the Omicron subvariant BA.2 is spreading now and that the at-home Covid tests aren't detecting it either...

It was true for us. Didn't get a positive until it was far enough that the kids could go back to school, so what good is that?

And then what does one do in that scenario? We had that cold in our house and tested negative 5 days ago. I could test again today (I'm the only one still with symptoms). What happens if we all test positive? I'm already staying home. Eveyone else is back out b/c of a neg test and symptoms gone. If vaxed, do they just go on about their normal life (with masks)?

Also, if the kids are symptom free and it's already been 5 days since symptoms started, what does one do with a + test now? It doesn't make sense to suddenly quarantine for 5 more days.

Don't test.

We test every family member twice 24 hours apart if sympotmatic and then we're done. If it's negative, it's negative.

Exactly. I’m not going to keep testing everyone every few days until someone tests positive. At this point we all assume a risk participating in life.

What are the rules these days with everyone vaccinated if one person in the household test positive?
