Sorry to hear that. Just curious as to what other factors they are looking at that supersedes these data points.

I assume they are trying to build a diverse class. There maybe 10 other applicants with PPs kid's profile, they won't fill the grade with just these type of kids. They will accept some B average kids, some artsy kids, some average HSPT but high GPA etc...grades are important but not the only thing that is considered.

Curious about this as well. In a competitive year I'd assume that being Catholic would be a tipping point in more admissions decisions...

This can't be real.

Oh but it is!

Then I am sorry to hear. That just seems crazy to me. Surely your child will have other acceptances and will do very well wherever he/she lands.

But if your a parent with good grades and high test scores, you are hoping that these are the only attributes the schools look at in making decisions.

These people are unable (or unwilling) to put themselves in the shoes of the Admissions people at the school who have a wide range of requirements from the various groups and interests on campus.

The Admissions people look at a range of things including legacy connections, sex (to achieve balance), K8 schools, especially Catholic ones, URM, athletic ability, special talents, etc, etc.

Oh but it is!

Was it 1st choice? Did they have solid essays that said why SJC? Any ideas on why they said no?

To be honest, my kid is a know it all. I’m guessing that could’ve been it. Cocky maybe. I honestly don’t know. Was not his first choice and I’m sure he said that knowing him.

Did your kid apply to other schools?

We are still waiting to hear but there are more applicants from our K8 parochial to SJC this year than past 2 years.

Denied here. But we felt like we were never able to make a connection with them. When we went to book our visit, they weren’t accepting any more applicants for visits. And never got invited to interview.

We just got our portal update.

Accepted! My daughter is over the moon. It was her 1st choice from the day she shadowed.

Just wanted to add, as I’m sitting here watching DS teach his younger brother math, I’m thinking they didn’t even give this fantastic kid a shot. Their loss.
