Acceptance post from last year:
https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/952815.page Rejection post: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/952911.page#19373559 Nothing about dozens of Deal denials. Because it didn't happen. Search the forum for "deal and sjc". Nothing comes up with anyone reporting a single denial. |
Well as we all know, if you didn't post it on DCUM it didn't happen.
|
| I know two current 9th graders from Deal that were denied at SJC last year and accepted at Big3/5. |
Or the fact that there could possible be only the posts in DCUM search. I’ve seen SJC come up as 4/5 variants |
Another private! K-8 |
I know two boys last year rejected from SJC. One went to Walls and the other to GZ. Shocked their Mom didn't post on DCUM about their rejection! Ha! |
| Well, i don't know. Apparently they like the CCDC and AU Park kids. Because those two Deal worlds were all accepted to SJC. |
no, that Walls kid was admitted to SJC. I know the kid. |
And you are positive you know the business of every one of those students? |
| Denied as well. Definitely underestimated the competitiveness of SJC. Congrats to all of those who made it! |
Sure, I don't. But I do know that my kids and his/her friends were accepted with Bs and HSPT scores well under 80% last year. So who knows, maybe there was a Deal group of kids who were rejected with straight As from last year. But the Deal kid who lives in my house and a dozen so of his/her friends (who had Bs and who were never on the principal's honor roll) were admitted. |
| Where is it showing the denial? Is there another letter added to the checklist? Still not seeing anything. |
|
Question to those who got denials, when you logged into the portal, did you see a message that said login to the checklist after 4pm?
And then you checked anyway bc or this thread or did you NOT see that message. I’m waiting for my kid to come home from school to click the checklist with him so just want to know if there is any distinction. |
Yes, saw that message, then clicked on “view checklist” and got the message: After thorough review of your child's application, we are unable to offer XXX admission to St. John's College High School at this time. It was an extremely competitive year as we had more than 1,200 applicants for the Class of 2026. |
Appreciate the info, sorry your kid didn't make it, hope they land somewhere where they're happy and get a good education, be that private or public. |
