Sister saying we shouldn’t use cousins second home for vacation and should pay for our trips

We always offer to host family. DH has cousins with a ski in ski out access but said we can never ask or assume to use it. These same cousins visit us and have used my SIL’s guest house AND my parents second home. He said it is b/c she would have to offer it to her siblings if we ever stayed there.

Some families have weird issues.

Might have been tacky if you asked or had a history of mooching off your cousin. But a gift freely offered is a gift freely offered. Your sister is crazy. Leave a nice thank you gift like a gift certificate to a restaurant to say thank you and don’t think twice!

according to Jeff, she also posted last summer about a similar issue. In that she indicated that her and her DH’s HHI was $500k, so they are not really poor relations.

Of course you can use it. Just make sure to bring nice gifts for your cousin’s kids and perhaps some nice wine for the adults
