Lack of diversity in lacrosse

How exactly do you do that without suggesting to all involved - young and old - that they are racist by simply participating on their club or high school teams. Tryout. Make it or not. People can vote with their feet. Last I checked, it costs more to play football than lax. It take more equipment to play than lax. So again, choose the sport your child loves or wants to do better in and stop injecting race into something that simply isn't the case.

Lacrosse is more expensive than football and football generates more money than lacrosse. It’s Americas game and you get more spectators. Racism shouldn’t be welcomed, ignored, or even turned a blind eye to. If it exists in an athletic program, you should leave that program as soon as you recognize it. And everyone should have this attitude.

You clearly do not know the history of the sport. No need to compare with football. One has nothing to do with the other. Racism can exist anywhere. It is not a lacrosse specific problem. No need to turn away from the sport. Find the right team and coaches. For the record, football and basketball have greater examples of racism in the past. So does baseball.

Just what the Post wants to happen. Racism everywhere! Thank God I stopped reading it years ago. I feel sorry for people who still do.

There was racism long before the post started reporting about it.

When the demand for racism outweighs the supply, you get these articles..

Are you kidding? You can’t be saying there is a short supply of racism. Racism is everywhere. It’s to the point it needs to constantly be counteracted. If you really want to fix the problem, take it head on instead on trying to convince people it doesn’t exist.

No one says racism doesn’t exist but no it’s not everywhere in 2022. By in large most people are good and don’t judge others solely on race.

There was literally not one example of racism in the entire article.

The examples provided were likely racism and you can’t say for certain that they weren’t racism. And people shouldn’t judge others by race at all. When race is involved in the judging of others even a little, that’s too much.

If you’ve been around any team, you’ll find at least one parent who either thinks their kid is playing wrong position or isn’t playing enough.

If you’ve ever watched a game, you’ll find a parent who thinks the ref called a penalty that wasn’t there or didn’t call one that was.

That’s reality.

Everyone, even the most jaded parents, think little Johnny or Jenny need to play more, should have gotten that call, shouldnt have gotten that call, etc. Thats a fact, but to tar someone or some organization/club/team as being racist without the chance to meaningfully refute is slander or libel depending on the delivery which is a criminal offense. So taking any news report at face value without the facts and then spouting off that the whole world is racist and this is one more log on that fire is very dangerous for whomever is suggesting it.

I keep checking back to this thread to just appreciate how obnoxiously blind the lacrosse community chooses to be to bias and racism in the sport. This is what minority players and families in the sport are up against. Ugly.

You are correct. Starting today the rest of us will all abandon the sport until you are happy and no longer perceive what you think exists. Keep checking in.
