| Totally agree. |
Such a lazy "Get off my lawn!" take. Today's youth sports team would kick the butt of the youth sports teams of your day. Better athletes, better training, smarter training. Coaches aren't God anymore and shouldn't be. Remember when there were no Black quarterbacks? You think those kids should just play where their told? |
Right, so you can play your own kid at the position you want them to play and build the team around them. If the other kids don’t reach their potential who cares. GTFOH with that BS! This young lady got hip to the game, didn’t feel she was being played right in certain situations, and found a team or teams where she could play and develop into the role she wanted. And I would bet my bottom dollar she can play the position those coaches wouldn’t let her play better than who the have in that position now. |
Perfect example, I remember my little league day’s. Saw several cases of the coach who wants his son (who sucked badly) to play QB. He could throw ten interceptions and wouldn’t be replaced. The same thing is still happening. That’s why parents need to pay attention to what’s happening or their kid will be in a situation where he/she isn’t developing as a player and they are being used as a tool to help the coaches kids development. |

Those where the good old days when white supremacy controlled sports at a higher level. This is still happening today. I’m glad the girl in the article was able to remove herself from that team where she wasn’t getting the help she needed. |
How is this any different than looking at the travel basketball leagues and being able to make the same charge? I don't understand why race has to be in literally everything. They are kids. They play sports they love or want to improve in, and its as simple as that. If we keep trying to divide ourselves by race, religion, nationality we are doomed far beyond the likes of lacrosse. |

Hall of famer, Steve McNair was recruited by every major college program in the country to be a DB or running back. No major college recruited him as a QB. If he would just did what he was told and changed positions, he wouldn’t have been a hall of famer and wouldn’t have played the position he wanted. |
Who said it was different? There is racism within the travel basketball leagues. There is a simple solution to stop all the division and that’s to stop being racist. |
| Or just open eyes and see things for what they are and stop trying to leverage this or that situation to your advantage when it all boils down to a game. Seriously we are crushing our country, and its not gonna end well for any of us. |

Least of all for the kids |
| Solution is simple. If you tear down the sport no one wins. If we promote diversity all win. This sport was founded by an oppressed group study and learn. Celebrate the history but keep integrity by promoting the skill of the game. |
Any player or coach involved in competition should be trying to gain an advantage as long as it’s within the rules. However, if a coach isn’t doing things for the greater benefit for his team first and the development of his players, that isn’t a good coach, and I recommend finding a better situation. |
How exactly do you do that without suggesting to all involved - young and old - that they are racist by simply participating on their club or high school teams. Tryout. Make it or not. People can vote with their feet. Last I checked, it costs more to play football than lax. It take more equipment to play than lax. So again, choose the sport your child loves or wants to do better in and stop injecting race into something that simply isn't the case. |
