Don't see Rice going any higher. The correct answer are Brown, Emory, Vanderbilt, Columbia, Stanford ( can Stanford rise anymore), BC, and I hate to admit it but NYU.

Emory? If anything it's stagnant.

no. That's Georgetown, Cornell, Dartmouth, UVA. Emorys app numbers are up while most others are down. That along with being in the news constantly. Emory and Brown have the most potential actually, when you consider both schools are horrible at engineering.

What are you talking about? Cornell posted record apps and a record low acceptance rate. It's popularity is as high as its ever been, and unlike any of the schools you just mentioned, it remains a heavyweight in both research and academia.

I don't see it for Cornell, a declining ranking and it's not as popular with the prep school crowd as it used to be. And every school had record apps last, that doesn't count especially considering Cornell is test BLIND.

Tell me you’re clueless about academia without telling me you’re clueless about academia.

You don’t have any facts; you just took one glance at US News and made a guess.

Academia doesn't really decide whose in or not. If they did Reed would still be a top school. Academia is much slower to change than public perception.

What??? Reed, a tiny liberal arts school, isn't even an afterthought in academia. You really don't know what you're talking about.

Don't see how you can argue Cornell being on the rise. But PP is right Vanderbilt,Brown, Emory, Columbia are the schools students talk about a lot.

My DC chose Mendoza at Notre Dame for business over Emory Goizueta, Vanderbilt Econ, Brown Econ.

Emory and Vanderbilt I could understand, but ND over Brown is an... interesting choice.

Cornell, Vandy, Brown and Columbia are definitely hot. Don't know where all this Emory boosterism is coming from, though.

Apps for Cornell are down, y'all lie on here a lot. Emory and Notre Dame had the highest increase in early apps this year within the top 25. 20 and 13 percent increases. Emory doesn't need boosterism... Whatever that means.

Why are you lying? Cornell apps are up. https://cornellsun.com/2021/08/25/cornells-class-of-2025-sees-lowest-acceptance-rate-in-recent-years-sets-records/

Cornell, along with Stanford, purposefully doesn't partake in the admissions arms race, as it sees no need to aggressively bring its numbers down in the same way that schools like Emory, Vandy and ND feel like they need to.

Cornell went test blind last year. That doesn't count, what are the early numbers this year?

So you're lying. Apps are up, not down.

Last year was the most selective year on record for all top schools except Cornell. Before the pandemic apps to Cornell dropped considerably.

Every time someone says something not so savory about Cornell, the whole thread is derailed.

How so?

NP. Literally every single child I know from this area that chooses Elon is learning disabled in some way. Not severely, but ADHD and others that prevented admission into other schools. I think it's great as an option for those kids, and it's quite possible one of mine may attend there, but it is not a strong academic school, at all. I am very close to two graduates and their and their classmates outcomes and options upon graduation were so limited, that it really makes me question the value of the school. It really lacks diversity and is full of underwhelming students of wealthy parents. They decline many many students who they know will not likely attend because they applied as a safety, in order to try to maintain a sub-80% acceptance rate. That in and of itself is a real turnoff. The up and coming schools that aren't gaming the system that way: Indiana and Pitt.

You have no idea what you are talking about.
