Deep dive into the hindu vote in northern Virginia

Plenty do, though. A lot of Hindu-Americans living in Texas, for example.

Yep!

I’m Hindu-American and I have family in both Texas and Florida. They LOVE it there. The weather, the community, the schools.

The Asian population (both E and S Asian) is HUGE!! It is the fastest growing population in the city and Asian-Americans have a massive impact on local Houston politics, business and tourism. I imagine that Hindu-Americans moving to Texas from DC would feel right at home!

It is the democrat values and hard work to implement change that have allowed the US to become this great place y’all are talking about. Without the democrats, you would not have the opportunities you are so pleased to pursue. You think the republicans would be welcoming you with open arms if left to their own devices?

I follow politics pretty closely and listen to the messages being sent by politicians. Democrats have been very clear that they are NOT welcoming me. Not a chance.

There are PLENTY of racist Democrats. Just like there are plenty of racist republicans.

Pretending that one party is somehow mortally superior is simply dishonest.

LOL. How long have you been here? The GOP is about as amoral as you can get. Ds aren’t perfect but they are orders of magnitude better than Rs.

Except on most policy matters.

Such as?

This article comes as no surprise for Va voters, and any follower of this board. See quote below re: TJ. I mean, anybody who has been paying attention AT ALL knew this was coming.

"The “make-or-break issue,” according to Tiwari, that caused Hindu voters to throw their support behind Youngkin, was the furor over Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology altering its admission standards in the name of expanding diversity. The school’s famously rigorous standards made it both famous and infamous in the area and in education circles.

“Merit was very important to us,” Tiwari said. “So when we saw that at Thomas Jefferson High School, the current government of Virginia is reducing the standard in the name of diversity, they want kids from other minority communities to also attend this school—I can see their motives, they want to uplift people—but what do we do? Where do the people who really are talented, hardworking go?”

Us asians don't want to give handouts and our hard-earned lifestyle and money to the losers, that's a white liberal thing. We also don't care about slavery or social programs that's all white stuff we had nothing to do with.

Who are “the losers”?

NO, IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE VMPI AND BECAUSE MATH IS GETTING CANCELLED IN MOST OF AMERICA. NO ONE WANTS THEIR KIDS DOING CALCULUS ON THE WEEKENDS BECAUSE THE SCHOOL DOESNT OFFER IT ANYMORE-WHICH IS BECOMING REALITY IN MANY US STATES.

My neighbors in Silver Spring just recently went house hunting in Texas! They are both in tech and can telework. They are ready to hightail it out of MoCo and I cannot blame them. Both are not Hindu, because one spouse if from Sri Lanka, but just an example.

When driving there, I wonder if they had the same experience I did. Pulling off the highway and seeing two motels, one with a big sign: AMERICAN OWNED. Stopping at the other and it's run by an Indian family.

Not sure what your point is here. I see nothing wrong with a hotel advertising that they are American Owned. The Indian owned motel can advertise that is is Indian Owned to attract Indian tourists who would prefer that. Or Indian-American owned if they care to do so.

The bubble tea place by me advertises in Chinese to presumably attract Chinese customers. GWU had a list of Black Owned businesses on its website for people to support.
https://diversity.gwu.edu/black-owned-businesses-dmv-area

Do you have any issue with those? Why the hypocrisy and criticism towards an American Owned sign?

Oh, and that website, with the ‘inclusive’ email address of diverse@gwu.edu has zero mention of Asians. As if we just don’t even exist. As if there have been no incidences of anti-Asian violence in US history.

The website includes Black-owned business and anti-Semitic resources and LGBQT links. Not a single mention of Asians.

This isn’t unusual, FWIW. So I’ll take the PPs assertions that the Progressives are somehow less racist with a very large grain of basmati rice.

You didn’t look very hard…

Which “many” states?

VPMI always included a path for calculus.

PP used all caps, that means that they are correctly stating fact and not a raving lunatic.

It was accidental. CA is trying to not offer Algebra 2 anymore in HS. It is a trickle down effect, and the changes are slow but they happen. Regarding VMPI, the original version had it where you would basically be going from algebra 2 to calculus, you can do it but can you be successful?

Isn’t true that most Indians who make it to the US are already very educated? Could that be a key factor to their success? I mean I’m Latina but came here with my MC educated parents. I wouldn’t call the kids whose parents came here barely knowing to read in their own language, losers.

Then you're not looking. There's one party that supported, and continues to support, a violent overthrow of the results of the 2020 election, and I'll tell you who it is: the GOP.

It doesn't surprise me that a lot of people of Indian descent vote Republican now. I think we are considered white-adjacent and can have a seat at the table along with those of Latino descent (a very diverse group.)

I DO love this country. Which is why I can't support anything the GOP is doing. These are not the behaviors of a democratic nation.

So you don't like the progressives? Fine, that's politics. People have been bickering about it for the history of the country. But when the bedrock of the country is being assaulted, I can't vote for any of them, no matter how much it affects me personally.

Do you have kids? Are they in FCPS, LCPS, or MCPS? If so, how’s that going?

Sorry I have to look at the larger issue of the country they are growing up in. It's the cancer I'm worried about. I'll get the warts treated later. I think a generation will pass before I consider voting GOP again.

And I see the progressives as a cancer. They are insidiously eating away at the very values that have made the US such an awesome country. I don’t see the GOP doing that, so they have my vote for the foreseeable future.

The only cancer is you. Both parties display shockingly undemocratic values and tactics and to pretend otherwise is disgusting.

There is not a chance I will vote for a Democrat candidate as long as I live in this area. I know plenty who feel the same as I do.

Absolutely. From the article:

What has made this country a beautiful place for us? Merit. Hard work.”

“We look brown,” said Tiwari. “We had accent[s], we knew we were not born in this country. But in a period of 10, 15 years we became a CEO of a large company. Why? Because there is something inherent about this country that if you work hard, if you focus, and dream—dream comes true. They reward capability, merit, intelligence, knowledge. That is what took us to where we are.

I’m the first PP.

That all spoke to me as well because I feel 100% the same. I LOVE this country. I am truly grateful for what the US has provided for me and my family. I hate listening to the Democrats and their anti-American rhetoric. Talking as if other parts of the world are ‘better’ and the US is full of ignorant a$$holes. That is not the case at all. I have family all around the world and I would not choose to live anywhere else.

Some of the White liberals have no idea how great we have it here in the US. And how great, and resilient and amazing most American people really are.

I’m no CEO and I have a measly job (by Indian-American standards), but the US is an amazing place. And I have no idea why some progressives choose to rally against that.

Child of Indian immigrants here - it's amazing how racist you and your parents are. A lot of Indian-Americans are incredibly racist against other immigrants and think they are better. You think you are better than other brown people and it's disgusting.

You never heard of the caste system. It doesn't end when people leave India.

You are a few years away from being a forgotten minority as Indians and Hispanic people surpass you. The same thing is happening to the Jews. Why do you think AIPAC just announced a super PAC and why do you think this report was in Jewish publication.
