Metropolitan DC Local Politics
LOL. How long have you been here? The GOP is about as amoral as you can get. Ds aren’t perfect but they are orders of magnitude better than Rs. |
+1 Seems like these recent immigrants aren’t familiar with what the Rs have been doing and saying about them for decades. They’ll happily take your vote though, suckers. |
Interesting, because I can totally understand trying to identify an American Owned business. Where I work, some of the buildings have been bought out by Chinese commercial real estate investors. Who are located IN China. Do you know how much of a pain it is to have a landlord located in China? |
Don’t kid yourselves. I know plenty of surreptitiously racist ‘progressives’. They’re just more discreet about it. Which is why I’d rather just vote based on policies, not on personality. |
Exactly. Why do you think Trump held his Howdy Modi rally in Texas? Trump might be crass and obnoxious, but he’s a shrewd businessman. He picked Texas for a reason, and IIRC, plenty of Indian-Americans showed up for him. |
Life is far more complicated than that, as most human beings realize.. |
What have “Rs” been doing and saying about them for decades? I thought the Chamber of Comnerce and its R supporters welcomed such immigrants. |
Except on most policy matters. |
Agreed. I’ve known Hindus/Indians who truly believe they are “white adjacent” as one PP upthread put it. But what they don’t realize is that white people (especially republicans) view them the same as other brown immigrants in this country. Sad. |
Oh, and that website, with the ‘inclusive’ email address of diverse@gwu.edu has zero mention of Asians. As if we just don’t even exist. As if there have been no incidences of anti-Asian violence in US history. The website includes Black-owned business and anti-Semitic resources and LGBQT links. Not a single mention of Asians. This isn’t unusual, FWIW. So I’ll take the PPs assertions that the Progressives are somehow less racist with a very large grain of basmati rice. |
This. I’m the Hindu-American PP who prefers to vote on policy rather than personality. I’ll vote for whichever candidate I think will be best for me, my family, my community and for the country. Anything else is just noise. |
Aww, it’s okay. Don’t feel too sad for us. We’re doing okay! Keep your condescending pseudo-concern to yourself. It might be true that we’re not White enough for the Republicans. But, it is also clear that we are not Brown enough for the Democrats. Alas, what to do? Some, like the PP will choose to align themselves with the Democrats. Personally, I’m not looking to align with anyone. I don’t really need any politician friends. They’re all a bit slimy for my taste. Both parties. So, I’ll continue to vote on the issues that matter most to me. |
Please tell me how much of a pain it is to stop at an Indian owned motel. |
|
I think this also applies to a democrat swing voters who went for youngin. The constant talk about transgendered bathrooms in schools, performative use of pronouns etc are just not big issues, and only impact less than .0001% of population.
If Trump wasn't such a clown, I would vote republican. And I am a hard core pro choice liberal. |
| Overall Indians and Asians such as myself are purely republican with hard work, business owning, wealth etc. the issue is that the marketing of democrats paint republicans as racist, which is falling apart. Us asians don't want to give handouts and our hard-earned lifestyle and money to the losers, that's a white liberal thing. We also don't care about slavery or social programs that's all white stuff we had nothing to do with. |
