Some of them are fiscal conservatives but socially tolerant. The old Republican Party was a big tent with lots of room for such people. I think it would be great for America if those people could reclaim the Republican Party. It’s really sad that the only alternstive to the Democratic Party is a party that defends the confederacy, peddles lies about an election, doesn’t want any woman to be able to chose an abortion, refuses any reasonable restrictions on gun ownership, denies basic facts of science like human controlled science change, and drives out people like Flake and Cbeney who dare to challenge any of this.
My dad was a Republican through 7 decades and he is pretty disgusted with his party.
We really need the old Republican Party (or a different née Republican Party) back again.
You know where I see a lot of the nastiness? From the progressives. I mean, yelling ‘racist’ is an effective way to shut down discourse, but it is pretty nasty.
I don’t disagree that I don’t identify with any party. That’s fine with me though. I’m not looking to belong to any tribe. It’s just voting and I will vote for the candidate and policy. Not for a party.
Your bias is very clearly showing, however. Your long list of Republican transgressions while ignoring the abysmal record of the Democrats.
I’ll provide just a few in case you can’t think of any yourself. And since I’m in MoCo, I’ll even limit it to local issues.
Democrat taking points that I disagree with:
- Thrive Montgomery (concocted, promoted and endorsed by County Democrats)
- Removing SROs from schools (bad decision not supported by principals)
- Defunding the police (again, bad idea, when people are constantly having their cars rifles though, and when our local Safeway regularly has items stolen… crime is clearly a concern when you want a safe place to raise your family
- Being a sanctuary county (encouraging undocumented immigrants to break federal laws and risk their lives to come work crappy jobs is not compassionate, it is greedy)
- MCPS (the public school system is in shambles - the Democrats and the Teachers Union have worked hard to destroy a once-solid school system. The hyper focus on race and Equity have led to a huge decline)
There are plenty more Dem ideals that I disagree with. Really, anyone looking for a safe place to raise a family and educate their kids should have some qualms about voting for any Democrat candidate. Especially after how the solidly Democratic leadership in MoCo handled Covid and continues to screw over our kids.
