How the hell do you NOT know these basic facts about colleges your DD applied to? And you haven’t even bothered to Google the information? Talk about a lazy and uninvolved parent, sheesh.

Really you should just let your DD make the decision here because your input will be worthless.

Well yeah, you can google and see rankings but I think coming here can give you more insight. Obviously a lot of people here with connections to both schools who can give answers with first hand knowledge.

Yes, you should absolutely consult internet anons for insight after your DD has already been accepted to a college.

Maryland has never had a football coach have knowledge of one of their assistants molesting young boys and then the administration cover it up

Maybe from out of state. In-state, this kid *might* get into Main Campus, but might get offered one of the satellite campuses to start.

That's bananas. Back in 1996, I was a PSU double legacy with above a 1300 SAT and top 15 in my class and I couldn't get into PSU Main Campus, but got into Maryland Scholars easily - UMD was the safety school for everyone in my class. How things have changed!

My OOS DD got into main campus with 3.4uw and 1200.

Shouldn't you be getting ready to catch the school bus?

Every big university has had its fair share of problems. What's your agenda here?

My DD applied to PSU Early Action on November 1st but did not submit her SRAR until November 6th. Any idea if she will still be considered EA and will hear by December 24th?

UMD and PSU are both well known state schools. UMD is much cheaper than PSU in state or OOS.

PSU main campus has 10,000 additional students compared to UMDCP.

Not sure. I think they allow a grace period for transcripts and teacher recommendations.

I am a PSU grad with a kid at UMD. PSU is a much happier school but the tuition stress for us would have been too much and UMD is really climbing the stats.

We are IS at UMD.

As a (liberal) Penn State alum, I agree with this. I wouldn’t give them a dime after the Sandusky scandal, and I certainly wouldn’t let my children attend. It’s a rotten institution, and I say that after having had a very positive experience in the Honors College there.

This is my position, as well. The institutional nature of the cover up is a non-starter. Fine for other people to send their kids there. We will not be.

Agenda? Are you always this awful? Institutional coverup of childhood rape is not a "fair share of problems."

The website says the application is considered complete when you have official SAT/ACT scores, if submitting and a complete SRAR.

I think it is not considered EA if incomplete on 11/1.
