I agree with that but genetics also play a role. Having a slim toned body makes you look youthful while having one of the thick to fat body types makes you look like you might have already given birth to 5 kids and are a mature older woman.

46 and 37, according to people who have no interest in kissing my a**, including my new derm. I've always been obsessive about avoid the sun, using the best sunscreen, and eating healthy i.e. not a lot of huge weight fluctuations outside pregnancies.

I’m very slim, 39, and being skinny probably makes me look older. The past year has not been kind and I probably look early 40s. Who knows though? How you look at a certain age is individual and it’s hard to make these categorizations.

No doubt some are delusional. Others just remember the comments from people who really do think they look younger (no one says, "Wow, you're 45? You look 45!" So maybe they look 10 years younger to some people, but "objectively" they look an average of only 2 or 3 years younger... but how would they know?

And of course, the main reason you see so many people on DCUM who look much younger, or whose kids have 4.0s-- it's those people who love to answer these questions.

True but that's because we are mostly upper income folks who either stay at home or who have desk jobs. Access to good health care, and not doing back breaking work for decades, make all the difference in the world.

All this. Plus selection bias - the people responding who look younger are more willing to say so. Sort of like all the people with big HHIs and high net worths on the Money and Finance board.

I look younger and have a desk job but I work with a sex is t pig and she looks like one too. I am not upper income and grew up pretty poor thanks to my financially dumb parents. People say I look younger than my 30 yr old brother. Im 40.

I'm 50. Everyone who hears my age says I don't look close to my age. I've been told I look around 35-40. I had my kids late, which, I think, adds to people perceiving me as younger. I also smile a lot and have a joyful spirit, which also makes me seem young. Many of my peers are tired and bitter and seem much older.

I didn't say very slim I said slim and toned. Being thick or fat makes you look matronly no matter how sexy you may think it is.

I am 44. Most people think I am 33-35. I look a decade younger. My cousins are early 30s and look older than me.
