| ^^for me the tell is dark undereye circles, plus thinner and less elastic skin. And just frumpier feeling and looking. |

This post makes me sad.
Why is it a goal, or to be admired or proud of, when you look "younger"? |
|
I’m 50. I don’t know how old I look. To myself, I look my age. I have a few greys, eye lines from the sun. I certainly feel my age due to past chronic Lyme. People usually act very surprised at my age. Many have expressed disbelief that I have a 22 year old.
So, either they are being polite or perhaps I do look much younger. I can’t tell. |

I am 47 and look 46 and 364 days.
Get over yourselves folks. |
Maybe. But my family is working class so I still see all the regular folks all the time. We DC folks live in a bubble. |

I’m 46. Thanks to using retinol and sunscreen for 20 years, a touch of Botox and never smoking or tanning, I look like I’m in my early 40s. I think at best, you can knock a few years off your looks in your 40s. I definitely look younger than my younger sister who didn’t use sunscreen.
If you go the plastic surgery route in your 50s or 60s, you can knock off 10 years. Plastic surgery on someone in their 40s ends up looking fake, not young. |
This. I'm 46. How old do I LOOK? I have no idea. I don't routinely go around asking folks how old they think I am!! |
| 41. I don’t look a day over 40. |
|
I’m 55. From behind, I look mid-40s because I am fit and have great hair. From the front, I look 55.

I'm 43 (44 in two weeks), and I look late 30's early 40's. I'm slim (5'6 129) and stylish so that helps with keeping me youthful looking.
There used to be a Microsoft app where you could upload a photo and it would guess your age. I'm not sure why they got rid of it because I loved that thing-- it always guessed I was significantly younger
|
Agreed. At 43, you can still pull off a youthful enough appearance, which surprises me. I had assumed it would start to fade at 40. Granted you have to do more to keep up appearance, and you will start to notice fine lines and slight haggardness, but it's not as severe as I thought it would be. My driver's license pictures don't look significantly different over the 8 year time-span. |

I’m 52, small-framed with dirty blonde (with gray roots) highlighted hair. I am energetic and work out regularly.
I think I look about my age (maybe late 40s - maybe) although sometimes I get nice comments that I look to young to have a young adult DC. |

I'm 51, Asian, size 0-2 petite.
Not sure how old I look but my co-workers, who are the same age as I am often tell me "this is before your time." Then also, not sure if I should take this as a compliment or an insult... someone asked me if I was expecting! I guess my empire waist dress that day made my food baby bulge out. So I said, oh no, I am DONE with that! (and I did not say that my kids are in college!) I am starting to feel my age in my face though. Could use some fillers on my genetic eye bags, which have been nicely concealed by masks. I do color my hair, although, knock on wood, thankful that I am not half as gray as my mom was at this age. |
| I know less than 5 women who really, truly look shockingly younger than they are and all of them are childless and live stress-free lives. I think this is a function of getting enough sleep plus hairstyle and clothes. I know my hair gives away my age (35 and still doing the Zooey Deschanel hair) but I love it and can't bring myself to try the parted down the middle thing now. |
