Landon Dance

That letter sounds like my 4 year old wrote it....

Two of the boys are still in the hospital? That's serious.

Why is that a poorly written letter? I am not an expert of the English language, but it seemed appropriate for the circumstances.

The letter is grammatically and stylistically poor: superfluous commas, ambiguous pronoun antecedents, wordiness, jargon, ambiguities caused by poor choice of words, and illogical order of sentences within paragraphs, among other flaws.

That's right -- I killed only one minute typing up the one sentence I posted. Oh, now what to do with the rest of my ample free time???

Most of you are being really ridiculous and completely overreacting. This type of thing happens, it has happened for generations (yes, even in our grandparents' generation) and, and there is not much a school can do to completely stop it. Get a grip, ladies. This is hardly a novel occurrence. That only a few students out of that huge crowd (3/100) were dangerously drunk is really quite good.

PP, I completely agree. People just jump on it when this type of thing happens at a posh prep school, when it really happens almost everywhere.

Presume the last 2 posts are Landon families.

Oh, goodness. That's funny to me because we're not Landon at all. I should have put a disclaimer on my post for those of you who love ad hominem attacks. No, I hjave kids at STA and NCS, which are subject to the same kind of bashing for the kinds of incidents that happen at schools everywhere.

Not necessarily. I for one posted earlier and was called all sorts of names - immature, enabler, permissive etc. That's quite a bit of hazing considering my kids are not at Landon OR in HS. If only the English whiz would give some constructive feedback to the lovelies commenting on my post about their reading comprehension..... seems they may need to sharpen up in that area.

Really, people need to stop presuming that a poster is defending a school because her children attend.

I don't think many posh prep schools, in the words of a PP, botch managing their school dances. Landon didn't have the mechanism in place that many schools use, guest names submitted the Friday before the guest. That will prevent "flash" mobs due to social networking. I bet word got out that it was an open dance.

the Friday before the dance. Sorry.

I am PP 13:42--Landon family here. I was only checking to see if there were other Landon families on the thread.
