Not sure if this should be in the policy forum instead... Anyone here voting for Youngkin because of

Anonymous
Wow, OP, you are a sad example of a voter if you think that you should give control of the executive branch of our state to a Trump suck up because you want to send a message to a local school board. Try to think bigger and pay attention to the anti democratic actions of Republican led states. There are much larger issues at play. And much better ways to express your discontent with the school board then voting for young kids.

Youngkin, not young kids.

Youngkin will put an end to TJ. Watch it happen.
Please don’t Florida our Virginia. Florida schools are almost the worst in the country, and they don’t have to be. We can recover from the impact of closures and covid. We will never recover from Youngkin.

If you don’t want to vote for him, that’s okay but this should not be the reason. My niece goes to a public magnet school in Florida. She had to apply and be accepted. She’s in the same grade as my child and I can honestly say all through school her school has been more rigorous than what we have in FCPS. Even before the acceptance to the magnet school. I would move there in a second if our jobs didn’t keep us here.

We wish you would.

Yep, because going back to when white middle class students were getting way more than everyone (and they still are) was definitely better (for them).

Totally fake news. look at funding in Title 1 schools and staff student ratios compared to non title 1. There’s something called google. Try using it.

Pp here - my kids were above grade level in a Title 1 school and came home at the end of the year with maybe 10 pages filled in their writing notebooks! And the teacher hadn't met with one of them either individually or in a group in a 2 week period. LA was last and I would ask if the teacher met w/her and the answer was usually no. How are lower class sizes helping my kids? So no, my kids (and yes, they're white) were not getting way more than everyone even with Title 1 funding.

They can set state policy for the entire state. And look at the Virginia Math Pathways Initiative. It will affect all districts. It needs to be stopped.

Why? Because you believe some RWNJ lies?

NP. Math teacher here. Not a RWNJ. Please do anything you can to stop the VPMI. I will retire early before it hits schools if it stays as planned. It’s not good.

You are so stuck in your ways that you don’t want to blend algebra and geometry concepts?

Sounds like you should retire.

To say nothing of the fact that my 8th grader is in Honors Geometry now and they stay blending algebra into the class. Please retire "math teacher"

Dems already ended TJ.

There are no registered Republicans in VA,

It’s accurate and concise. Suck it.

Can someone elaborate on how Youngkin will improve education? Every time I hear him talk about education he goes straight to masks and vaccine mandates which are public health policies. I have yet to hear him address actual education policies aside from COVID related public health issues.

He will “improve” schools by defunding them. Vouchers, etc.

Truth hurts.

I’ll call out the RWNJs and their lies every chance I get.

Don’t like it? Stop lying and spreading misinformation.

I don’t get the sense that any of the posters supporting him thus far on this thread know. Apparently they are just voting to stick it to the Dems.

Hellllllllll no. This slimey trump wannabe will do nothing to improve FCPS or any other school system. In fact, if he were to be in charge, I could see us being in the news for being told to find an alternative view to the holocaust a la Texas. Bleh. No thanks.

I believe in public schools and teaching accurate history and do not believe in book banning so there is no way I would vote for Youngkin.
