Yep, because going back to when white middle class students were getting way more than everyone (and they still are) was definitely better (for them).

The school board is in the process of choosing a new literacy curriculum. Other school districts are watching closely and will follow the lead.

Voting for Youngkin is a sign that you've stopped paying attention.

This. I’m not happy with the status quo but I don’t think this guy gives a crap about public schools and in fact, might do things to undermine public education. I think people are absolutely going to pay attention to the next SB election and I hope there is an overhaul. But Youngkin for Families? He’s capitalizing on the current dissatisfaction to convince parents to vote for him. I don’t trust him.

He’ll probably reduce funding and things will get SO much worse.

No way am I voting for Youngkin, even if I'm not thrilled with how FCPS handled covid or the direction the curriculum is going. I think Northam did a good job and I don't think FCPS would do anything differently based on who the governor is. I will likely vote for more conservative candidates when the next school board election comes up, though, even with my liberal roots.

McAuliffe is a big money sleazy white dude, but I'll take that over the Trump-lover who wants to put women back in the 1950s and hold back minorities.

Yep. My last kid is a senior this year. And is not applying in state. Sibling was a TJ grad and is also not attending college in state. We’ll move to. Lower COL area once my kid is settled in college.

Youngkin is my f—k you to FCPS, the SB and the teachers unions on my ah out the door.

Sorry. Not sorry. You reap what you sow.

I would vote for Mickey Mouse before I'd ever vote for Youngkin.

He latched onto TM's comment about parents controlling what schools teach, but he doesn't actually have any plans to fix any of the issues with schools. He would probably instead pull a move similar to Trump, putting people who have ZERO experience in education (like Betsy DeVos) in charge of educational decisions at the state level. Bad move.

Thank god you are leaving. VA, as a state, is happy you are leaving. You’re really stupid if you think the Governor controls district decisions. Our collective IQ goes down with you here.

And he’ll probably spend a year or so banning CRT, which isn’t even being taught, instead of addressing REAL issues.

And I have always voted Democratic in state/local elections, except when Creigh Deeds ran for Governor (and, yes, I know McDonnell got into hot water but he was still better than Deeds would have been).

Do you not care about your vote counting? See Georgia’s new election laws.

Do you want the educational materials available to your child decided by a bunch of radical Republicans like Tx?

Think bigger before you vote for Youngkin.

NO

The only talking point on these threads for Youngkin is schools?

Who votes for a governor that does not believe in Democracy? Who votes for a governor that is an anti semite, alt-right, downright traitor to the US?

Anyone on this thread is a complete UNAMERICAN if you vote for Youngkin.

Given this is the what at least 5th thread on the same subject Youngkin is scared and the trolls are out.

Youngkin is not trustworthy period.

Wow, you’re a real jerk to use your vote to screw the rest of us for spite.

100% this

No way would I vote for Youngkin because I am mad about FCPS. That would be so stupid. Governors are not in charge of education. I am mad about TJ admissions and don’t want to vote for some SB members in 2023 based on that. But I know the gubernatorial vote race has much bigger issues that would affect our daily lives and no way do I want someone inspired by Trump and sucking up to his voters in charge of the state!

No. Certainly not. He doesn’t run FCPS. He WILL sign legislation to ban abortions as they did in Texas. So no. I’m not voting for that lunatic.

Look into different SB candidates for next election if you’re upset about FCPS. Gov is entirely different.
