| There was a town hall about the race connected with individual causes but no mention of cancelling Halloween. |

We haven't heard anything either, but we don't care either way. We came from a school that had a Fall Festival and it was fine.
Btw - CCES is kids grades 3-5, not all from Chevy Chase, so being rich has nothing to do with it. If they do have causes, not like it's some tiny kindergartener who doesn't know a lot. |
yeah - we did. we celebrated halloween by trick or treating. we didn't have a classroom party or a parade. somehow both the country and we survived. |
It’s going to be fun times when larlo shows up in a t shirt with a picture of an aborted fetus. |
Super! Make sure she adds this to her college common application! I am glad my elementary school kid got to dress up for Halloween and debate which super hero was a better hero with his friends. Childhood. (and yes we do support causes, both volunteering and with $$$; no need to wear it on our sleeves). |
I am not going to lie, I would be that parent to do that to their child and send them to school. |
|
I'm sending Larla to school in a t shirt with a hammer and sickle on it. Let's see how harmonious the day goes! |
Bummer! Do you think eating does?

+1 Loved Halloween as a kid. Never once wore a costume to school. Halloween lasted a few hours, on Halloween night. It was simple and wonderful. |
| A party is some pizza, cake and drink. And, a few organized games. We have never had a parade. The parties are a nightmare for the few volunteers and teachers as it takes forever to get costumes on and off. And, kids have to be sent to the bathroom to change which is not a good idea with crowding and covid. You can get your kid a decorated shirt, hair stuff, socks, hat. Put in some temporary hair dye. Lots of options. Usually they have 1-2 hours for the party which makes it hard too. |
| If they really are doing pick a cause then that is asking for trouble. |
Indeed they are. And kids are supposed to dress monochrome in the color that is associated with the chosen cause. Like - dress in all red if your cause is heart disease. |
| Sad. |
oh ffs. No one is saying that anyone will "not survive." Is survival your standard, though? If so that's a pretty low bar--and pretty sad. Since when is it bad to love something, be passionate about it and sentimental even? Is this a race to the bottom in terms of who can care less and have less enthusiasm? Down with joy! Let's be cynical and apathetic and accuse anyone who feels deeply about anything of having a moral panic. I know your drill, and it's pathetic. I have to ask, is sitting around dcurbanmom sniping at people who have the nerve to care about stuff actually fun for you? |
