The former personal driver of Savvas Savopoulos, one of four victims in the recent D.C. Mansion Murders, told authorities he did not pick up a $40,000 ransom and drop it off at Savopoulos’ home, the scene of the murders.

However, police are not buying that story, according to court documents related to the case, and they’re now seeking a warrant to search the driver’s phone records as a result.

This story is just a rehash of info that came out a month ago...

But so poorly and randomly plagiarized that they got the basic facts wrong.

I'm royally confused by this article. I think we need to disregard it!

Oh I figured something was wrong with the info..but what happen to JW?? Did he attend the funerals?? Another thing the new lawyer said people would be shocked to see who is involved??Is the lawyer saying Wint was involved and so were others???

<<In an interview Tuesday night, Hanover told ABC7 since he had just been hired, he couldn't yet give an overly detailed explanation related to Wint's defense.
But he did talk a about the belief by police that one person could not have pulled off the crime alone.
"{Wint} believes that once people begin to understand who else was out there and what was going on, they're going to see him in a very different light," Hanover said. "I think it's fair to say that he feels at this time that he was definitely set up.">>

Read that too. One of the commentors below the article questioned if the article made a mistake in the wording and meant to say he did. It is one isolated article on that very aspect so not sure of the credibility of it.

DC Mansion Murder Suspect Daron Wint Thinks He Is Being Set Up

http://abcnews.go.com/US/dc-mansion-murder-suspect-daron-wint-thinks-set/story?id=31825943

The DNA speaks for the family.
DNA is credible, scientific.

I am sure there is more DNA that is not being released..Is it normal for police to release the DNA findings?? Before a Trial?? Only other case I can think of that had a documentary before a trial was Scott Peterson who killed his wife and unborn son Lacey Lifetime made a movie before the case went to trial. No information on the cell phones found in the truck and auto that Wint was driving in?? I read on a news site that his cousin and brother were inside the box truck..anyone else read this? Police know there were more then just Wint but slow to arrest in this case

I think the DNA on pizza crust evidence was released because law enforcement put out an APB for Wint's arrest. They needed to present something that strongly indicated his involvement. They wanted the public to take seriously the need to locate and arrest him. That is my opinion only.

DNA evidence is sometimes released before a trial. Another example is the recent trial of Jesse Matthews. Once his DNA was tested after his arrest in the Hannah Graham case, it was released to the public that his DNA matched that found under the fingernail of the woman he raped in Fairfax. Also it has been released that there is a DNA connection between Jesse Matthew and the murder of Morgan Harrington.

I'm hopeful there are masses of other evidence to help convict wint. I don't know if he acted alone or with others: if there were others, it does seem like slow progress in their arrests. I've read here that wint's brother was in the amerifleet truck. But I've only read that here, never in a published news article.

I can't imagine that with the amount of time the perps spent in the house they wouldn't have used the bathroom at least once.... And we all know that there is no way he didn't dribble at least some urine on the toilet edge! Let's just be honest! That's where I would look for some DNA...
There had to be more..for one someone was in the bedroom with Philip as he was screaming..and someone was holding the cell phone making sure Savvas didn't tip the housekeeper off. Lets see what happens at the trial

Never thought of the toilet --- Now that you mention it seems obvious but totally would not have thought of it before

Unless suspect talks with CREDIBLE info or others are arrested ---the public's focus really seems to remains on the one suspect in custody with the DNA. All else seems to be just talk and smokescreens to deflect attention off of suspect. I imagine that public's perception has not changed b/c of talk by new lawyer. Evidence rules.

If they found Wint's DNA, why haven't they found other DNA at the scene?

Sounds like the cousin was involved too...

Ok.... from the link:

The Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said it ran Wint's fingerprints in March in the FBI database, which was supposed to automatically flag ICE, but the immigration officials were never notified, officials said.

"If Daron Wint was arrested in March and (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) never received those fingerprints until he's arrested for quadruple homicide, it's an indicator there's a breakdown in system to me," said John Torres, former ICE special agent in charge. "Had ICE been notified they would have looked at Daron Wint's history and undertook a legal review to determine whether or not he was eligible for removal."

Who are the “officials” who said ICE was never notified?
Are they ICE officials?
Makes me wonder if they were never notified OR if they never ACTED on the information. Big difference.
Looks like CYA to me.

I was thinking about it last night and it occurred to me that if DW was the only one perpetrating the violence at the S's home, he would not have ordered TWO pizzas. My husband loves pizza but he would not eat more than one whole pie in one night. On the other hand, wasn't there some left over? Maybe a one-person's-appetite amount was eaten....hmmm. I think there is a clue in the pizza quantity--how much was ordered, how much left over...

I agree that there's a lot of CYA going on in this case. That this demented evil being was not deported is tragic beyond belief.

I'm comforted that more of wint's dna has been recovered from the scene.

That both wint and his cousin left AIW the same year is quite the coincidence. And that the cousin had a restraining order against him for threatening to burn down AIW? Unbelievable. Horror lurks in the background of this case. I agree with the comment above that maybe it's the cousin who is involved, not the brother.

I thought one article had said a relative "was recently let go" from AIW, but it could well have been bad reporting.

RIP Savapoulos family and Ms. Figueroa. May you have justice.

The threat of burning down AIW seems relevant with the actual burning down of the family's home.

CNN is going to do a special report on this case at 9:30 tonight. Apparently they are going to discuss new details about the case. What new details are out there that the DCUM community is aware of?

Thanks for the heads up, I will try and watch. Perhaps they will elaborate on the new details about the cousin and the additional DNA findings.

Thank-you to CNN for continuing to investigate and keep these atrocities in the public eye.

They likely have found a lot of DNA, but unless the person is in the "system" the wouldn't be able to immediately tie it to a perpetrator. DNA could belong to anyone -- SS family, friends, other visitors, etc.) DW had been arrested recently before so they had his DNA on file.

Yes, thanks for the update. Really appreciate all the detailed work LE is doing.
Don't know what that other lawyer can do for his client with so much strong evidence on the table against him.
