In some age groups--there are only 6 clubs. That's why. One season in CCL2 my kid played the same team 3 weekends in a row.

I thought there was a requirement for a club in CCL to have teams at all age groups. Is it only at the older ages where clubs have less teams?

The requirement starts at U12 when standings are kept. Most clubs have teams starting at U11 thru U19/20, but some clubs have some holes in the older ages. For U9/10, the southern clubs do not put their teams into CCL and typically the MD clubs do not either, preferring those ages to play in local leagues at that age. It's really the NOVA clubs that make up the U9/10 CCL -- Arlington, BRYC, LMVSC, Loudoun, McLean, SYA -- so yes it's a small league for that age. Then Fredericksburg FC participates in those ages by hosting scrimmagefests.

don't know about boys, but ccl lets clubs on girls side off without even fielding teams at u11. roanoke and legacy don't even get fined for not fielding teams, and the result is clubs like DC Stod., Arl., and Braddock all have only 6 games on their spring ccl schedules.

why does NOVA waste it's time in ccl? Braddock maybe has good reason to leave. ncsl probably schedules at least 8-9 games in spring for girls.

Not to stir the pot too much, but is a DA worth it? DS was extended an offer and I really know nothing about DA.

Depends on what you're looking for.
DS will get the best training, the highest quality games, and the most exposure to recruiters, but you're probably looking at 4 or 5 days of training a week, and he won't be able to play on any school teams.

They're not telling those players anything about ECNL. They're hosting open DA tryouts and the rest is TBD with no promises. I will now yield the floor to the boob who continues to post that FCV does not have ECNL for the eighty ninth time.

Who are you...you keep saying it's TBD...give us proof that it's TBD. FCV sure in the heck aren't promoting ECNl

What's going to be funny is when Loudoun kicks FCV to the curb when the opportunity arises..and it will happen I predict down the road.

How would Loudoun kick FCV to the curb?

What proof is there that FCV will not be in ECNL other than a BRYC town hall PowerPoint slide?

proof

Thanks, see how that works, you provide actual proof versus just saying something. Even if you are "in the know" it is best to not say anything until proof can be provided. But thanks for sharing this information as it really provides some clarity now.

Thanks!

Why is it best not to say anything? It's a talk forum. It's a bunch of parents providing inside info...right or wrong..much like sideline talk...some right...some wrong...some comical. You obviously had something to gain or lose...thats why you took that stance...but guess what...they were right and you were wrong all along....and everyone knew it. So step off your soap box and come join the rest of us uneducated parents who know nothing

I'm still waiting to hear how Loudoun is going to kick FCV to the curb.

How? Its an arranged marriage. Very few successful LONG TERM mergers in NOVA.

You really should educate yourself by going to the USSDA website or speaking to the club that extended the offer. Its a big time and money commitment that should be given serious consideration.

Obviously you know a little something if you registered for the tryouts. But, only you and your daughter can answer whether she should play. No one on this board can.

Anonymous wrote:So what happens out in Loudoun now? The DA partnership with FCV must have absorbed some of their top-level girls, but not all of them. Are the remaining Red players moving to VDA or Spirit? I would guess their Black teams get elevated to CCL, maybe with some Red players sprinkled in that didn't want to leave Loudoun. Or are there older girls teams that are committed to staying together at Loudoun in CCL?

They are all going to Spirit.

Interesting. Do they go to Spirit or stay Loudoun. If they go to Spirit they will be competitive in the DA.

If they stay at Loudoun, they will dominate in a league that no one cares about.

What say you Loudoun parents?

Poster seems to be referring to a son. What age and what DA? What are your child's soccer goals?

Where will FCV United sit in the hierarchy?

Where they have always been. One league down from the top league. So in this case it will be NPL

Yes - referring to a son. We registered for tryouts because we were receiving emails inviting us to do so. Also son's friends were going to the tryouts so he wanted to go. Regarding soccer goals, he loves, loves soccer, but no other goals than that. He does other sports, which up until now we have squeezed in, but they have been secondary to soccer. He still really loves soccer the most, but I worry that DA will be the end of other sports for him. I understand that he is not able to play with other soccer teams. Other than that I have somewhat let hiim lead the way. DA is something he really wants to do. Besides my life revolving around a soccer field now, anything else I should be aware of?

It is still important what club your talking about and what age group, DA is just a league. Training, style of play, coaching is up to the club. There are guidelines they are supposed to follow but just like other leagues, not all clubs are equal. Most people consider MLS DA teams better than the rest with a focus on development, they are motivated by eventually signing homegrown players. The non MLS teams are often accused of only focusing on winning and trying to beat the MLS teams at all costs.

There are still kids who have bright futures in other sports as well as soccer so they may be content to stay at Loudoun, play other sports and use ODP as a path for exposure.

Obviously I don't know your son or even his age but if he really loves soccer and you can make it work monetarily and with the time demands, then I would let him do it for a year and see how he likes it. The boys DA is the undisputed top level of boys soccer so let him compete with the best and see how he likes it. If for whatever reason it doesn't work out, he can go back to his old team and other sports next year.

Odp is not a path to exposure.
