Ohhh, I'm sooo shut up now. God get a life. Nobody doubted that it would happen or frankly even cared other than folks wanted to basically see a page that was linked to. So congrats they got the youth soccer scoop of the century! This is right up there with Watergate in regards to investigative journalism. ![]() |
So what happens out in Loudoun now? The DA partnership with FCV must have absorbed some of their top-level girls, but not all of them. Are the remaining Red players moving to VDA or Spirit? I would guess their Black teams get elevated to CCL, maybe with some Red players sprinkled in that didn't want to leave Loudoun. Or are there older girls teams that are committed to staying together at Loudoun in CCL? |
Why is it best not to say anything? It's a talk forum. It's a bunch of parents providing inside info...right or wrong..much like sideline talk...some right...some wrong...some comical. You obviously had something to gain or lose...thats why you took that stance...but guess what...they were right and you were wrong all along....and everyone knew it. So step off your soap box and come join the rest of us uneducated parents who know nothing |
They are all going to Spirit. |
I had neither to gain or lose. My kid made out fine. There is just nothing wrong with saying "I can't prove now but I have it upon good authority that..." It is a harmless enough qualifier. |
It would be interesting to see how many Loudoun red players are in FCV DA now, and of those that remain, whether they are sufficiently motivated to head to Spirit or other clubs. We'll never really know though I expect. Maybe the guy who has all the ECNL inside info can tell us authoritatively how many there are with no actual proof. |
Less than half |
Can someone fill me in the on winter practice schedules for the travel clubs in NoVA? Indoor vs outdoor? Easily canceled vs will practice in a snowstorm?
Trying to see which clubs are more strict than others. |
Sufficiently motivated? |
The HS age teams continue training year round usually outdoors, maybe taking off part of Dec/Jan as a rest period. Number of training days in spring/fall is usually 3, so that may stay the same in the winter or may cut back to 2. Clubs that have access to turf try to use that in the winter since indoor space is so limited and expensive, but then you're subject to weather issues. Younger teams may just do an indoor day over the winter or play in an indoor league. Grass fields are closed all winter in Fairfax County. Turf fields stay open unless there is snow/ice on them, then you have to wait for it to melt in Fairfax County because they don't allow any snow removal from the turf (I think Loudoun may remove snow from their turf). |
meaning if there are loudoun girls that tried but did not make FCV DA, whether they want DA bad enough to try Spirit or VDA. The whole 'merger' thing with FCV is curious to me because the only benefit to Loudoun that I can think of is theoretically they can hang onto their top performers all the way to U13, but at U14, it practically guarantees that they leave the club for FCV DA. I don't have any idea if that has been a problem in the past or not... the red teams have been pretty successful from what I've seen. |
Ours had 2 indoor a week for younger age groups and 1 indoor and 1 outdoor a week for older age groups. |
Loudoun would only hang onto their top performers as long as a high percentage of Red players make FCV DA. |
+100 love this post, thank u for it! |
I'm still waiting to hear how Loudoun is going to kick FCV to the curb. |
