Thanks. I thought (hoped) we'd have a little more time.

The test could still come back negative. 3 other NOVA residents tested negative earlier this wk.

The CDC announced a new confirmed US patient but didn't say the location. Wondering if this is the same person.

Sweden and Finland are each reporting an Italy related case.

Seriously? Was snow better in Italy then in Scandinavia? That was a classic example of wasting resources. But poor guys anyway, wishing all new cases speedy recovery.

But maybe the food and definitely the wine would be better, though!

Surely turned to be very expensive proposition.

I figured we'd be one of the hot spots, but also thought it would be a week or two more until then.

Andrew Cuomo said today it's "highly probable" that NY state will have cases.

He is asking for $40 million more for the NY Department of health to help deal with coronavirus.

NY state has a case pending in Nassau County, and other states do to. Too soon to lay money on NOVA for the 15th case.

First case in Greece is a fashion designer who attended Fashion Week in Milan. She is also a would-be elected official.

"The 38-year-old, while not publicly named, has been identified as a well-known designer who had travelled to northern Italy to attend Milan’s fashion week. She returned to Thessaloniki, Greece’s northern capital, on a Ryanair flight on Sunday and admitted herself to hospital after beginning to feel unwell on Tuesday.

The designer, who has also run for public office, is reported to have travelled to Milan with a group of journalists and several town hall councillors. So far, 15 people – including members of her family – have been quarantined for two weeks. But an inquiry is under way as to how many people she has been in contact with."

There have to be infections just about everywhere there is a large travel population in the USA by now. Asymptomatic for two weeks gives everyone who traveled in early February time to spread and incubate the disease and now go to the hospital. Really not sure why anyone should be surprised. The very idea that the cases in the US were ever limited to the Diamond Princess is laughable.

Those of us who are not Trump supporters worried that a crisis would come and show us up for the idiots we were to elect him. I think this might be it.

Do they have right not to disclose the location? Wtf?

Does anybody have ideas how we could encourage the govn't to move forward with testing? It looks like labs and doctors are finally putting pressure on the CDC/FDA to allow for non-CDC test kits. Should we do the same? By contacting our senators or members of congress? Any concrete ideas? Test availability in mid-March (which is what I have heard repeatedly) is NOT acceptable. Recall that a month ago, the virus was just starting to explode in China, now it is has already started to blow up in many nations (and possibly here). I am sure Europe or South Korea will share their testing expertise.
We as a nation are completely left in the dark. I would almost find it almost reassuring to know if there are cases/clusters where I live. At least we would know to take precaution, events could be canceled, schools could be closed etc to slow the spread. America first? It looks more and more that America can count itself in the bottom of the world ranks in terms of preparing the nation.

Who exactly are they supposed to test? You seriously want the health dept to enter your children's schools and do mandatory testing on them all?

people with symptoms? Like when you feel like you might the flu, don't you go get a test to see if it's the flu?

Honestly? No. I stay at home, drink fluids, take cold/flu medicine and eat soup and saltine crackers. I don't go to the doctors office unless I have to. I would likely do the same with this virus.

Same with the flu.

Although if I suspected I had corona virus, I would DEFINITELY contact my doctor. Shallow/trouble breathing is what sets it apart.

So if your kids might have the flu, you don't take them to the dr either?

NP. I'm not giving them Tamiflu due to side effects, so what's the point? We'd be there at the first sign of breathing problems, if they're still running a fever after 5 days, or if the fever breaks and then spikes back up again. Which is exactly what the doctor would tell us to do the first time.

I had tamiflu this year and yes it did shorten my illness. I didn’t get any side effects. All meds have side effects.

And some side effects they are...

Just something to watch for while guarding windows....

My kid nearly jumped out of window while tripping on Tamiflu

They’d have to justify it under a HIPAA exception, I think, or risk a life altering lawsuit.

It seems like Trump has a pretty darned good handle on this if you ask me. The people who want to shut down schools and make testing for this virus mandatory in the retirement homes are the one who are nuts.

Seriously, if you are THAT freaked out maybe now is the time to take that long overdue annual staycation.
