Fire in upper NW?

Nope. Nada. A community bank in Cupcake, Nebraska, maybe. B of A, no way. Banks are highly regulated and scrutinized, they have to follow procedures and opening early for one millionaire would be highly irregular and open them up to all kinds of liability.

It's also not just a question of opening, it's a transaction for a large amount of money with extra paperwork. You can't just walk out short notice with $40,000 in cash, even if you are good for it.

Public Defenders are usually *in* with the prosecutors, so it's in the defendant's best interest to obtain a private lawyer if at all possible.

omg please stop talking please, you know you should take a break and just read some of the posts on this forum. So many on this thread are so out of their depth here it is just unbearable to come here every two or three days and they are still here spouting inanities--you know ABSOLUTELY nothing about the DC court system, or seemingly any court system at all--you know even less about the Public Defender Service in DC, which is one of the finest in the country--

It would be the courts of Maryland and NYC correct? Not DC

Huh? The crime was committed in DC. Yesterday's hearing was in DC.

I know but the other posters are arguing about Judges and Court from the past crimes and charges of Wint..and that would be the state of Maryland and the City of NY correct?? No arrest record for Wint in DC except the Murders at the DC Mansion

I had tried to emphasize this upthread. I think the whole crime took place because SS was not able to get more money, and right away. I am shocked he had immediate access to anything, even if he were the world's richest bank customer. It just doesn't work that way. It takes at least days to get any amount of money, truly. Even if you are rich.

No. Banks are regulated by FDIC, etc.

I agree. But is it the same for business accounts? The retired FBI agent who was a consultant on the 20/20 show that covered this story, even he said the $40K ransom is very peculiar. I think if banks will only permit $40K withdrawal without the account holder present Or if difficult to obtain more than $40K in one day in one transaction, he would know. The retired FBI agent even remarks, "Why wasn't it $50K, or $100K?"

Are you saying the murders wouldn't have been committed if Mr. Savapoulos had been able to get more money? If so, I disagree. The intention all along was to murder them, IMO. No way would wint have allowed a witness to his crime to survive.

Ok, this shit drives me crazy. FDIC doesn't regulate bank hours. Seeiously people.

Anyway, I'm still very curious about the the use of the Amerit truck, and its vague potential use for one of the Savopoulos' automobile collection.

If wint's brother is arrested, could one lawyer represent both of them? I guess not due to conflict of interest. But maybe they would have lawyers from the same law office? Just thinking out loud here.

They would probably want different lawyers representing each defendant, assuming there will be others, in the event the defendants point the finger at each other, so there is no conflict of interest for the lawyers. I guess DCPS could represent another defendant in the case since Wint has new counsel, unless DCPS would now be conflicted. And I assume a defendant represented by DCPS needs to qualify as sufficiently indigent to get the representation. Public defenders are not "in" with the prosecutors. DCPS has an excellent reputation. They do their jobs, so that everyone can have access to legal representation, whether rich or poor. The dna (saliva on pizza), blood and other evidence is extremely damning for Wint. I don't think even the most competent lawyer can do much for him. But I'll be more comfortable if his (I think inevitable) conviction is the product of a solid defense and due process to foreclose successful challenges/appeals after he is convicted.

DCPS? It's PDS--Public Defender Service. DCPS is the public school system.

You can have cash in your safety deposit box and remove it immediately.

I absolutely agree. Murder was always part of the plan.

There actually is an arrest record for DW in Washington, DC. He used his brother's name, Steffon Wint (one of his bros). It's in the affidavit. Page 14.

The DNA speaks for the family.
DNA is credible, scientific.
