What are some of the TV romantic pairings that seem a little...unrealistic?
Here are some of mine: I feel like Shondaland takes the cake:
Callie and George Why would a hot sexy successful doctor go for a younger, nerdy, insecure bumbling intern? Makes NO sense.
Bailey and Ben I love Dr. Bailey and am fiercely protective of her, It seems very unlikely that such a hot sexy younger guy would be into her.
Christina and....Anyone Both Burke and Hunt were great catches. Smart, successful doctors who wanted to settle down and have a family. It makes no sense why they would go for a no-nonses cut throat Christina who had no interest in a family or a relationship. Also she was extremely unlikable and no guy in real life would go out of his way to speak with her.
Jim and Pam Honestly, I loved these two.But I'd say Jim was a few notches above Pam in the looks and success department. She was a boring, frumpy receptionist and of all women, Jim zeroes in on her?
Carrie and Big Carrie was not hot or young enough to be chased by a rich, charming, handsome man. He would've slept with her, sure, but never dated or married her. |

Jim and Pam the the most realistic, imo.
|
| Rachel and Ross. I refuse to believe anyone could be interested in that pathetic, whiny butthead. |
Also, there is something to be said for proximity. They saw each other day in and day out and had a similar sense of humor. |
Joey and Pacey. Stop it. Stop it right now. |

Jim and Pam I totally disagree with.
You are missing two factors for them: Scranton. Small pool, not big dreamers. Also, the whole point is they had a friendship and an unbreakable connection. I also can see big and Carrie. I think he saw something fun and irresistible about her. I think you're mixing it up. Sure he could sleep with younger women, but she would be the one to build a lasting partnership with. Grey's I see your point. Mine are: Claire and Phil from modern family Many of the relationships on Friends |
+1 About Claire and Phil. Phil is a good dad but Claire in her prime would've been 15 points higher on the attractiveness scale than Phil who is socially retarded. Claire in real life would have ended up with a wealthy investment banker. |

Carrie & Mikhail Baryshnikov - Sex & the City
Carrie & Doug -- King of Queens (while looking up their names I found a website all about TV shows with heavyset husbands and thin wives, who knew? http://crasstalk.com/2013/01/full-list-of-tv-shows-with-fat-husbands-and-skinny-wives/) |
| Doug and Carrie from King of Queens. |
Olivia and Fitz is as realistic as it is popular. Fitz is a blue blooded, handsome, smart, successful guy. Olivia is a drop dead gorgeous, equally smart, seductive powerful woman. She is powerful in her own right, yet submissive and seductive in her relationship with him. I can totally see how or why these two would be into each other. |
Blair and Dan Blair was socially savy, beautiful and super elitist. No matter how friendly she was with Dan, I do not see this ever happening! She belongs with a Prince. |
|
Monica and Chandler ruined Friends for me. I stopped watching when they got together.
|
| Lots of people would say Mindy Kaling (Dr Lehiri) and any of her love interests on the Mindy Project. I think the writing on that show and Mindy's personality plus her occupation would make her a super catch. |
The Holiday. this was a good couple:
This was not:

Mindy, despite being over 30 and overweight has a very charming personality and is sexually liberated. A lot of guys that age would find her refreshing. |
