Unrealistic TV Couples

Olivia and Fitz is as realistic as it is popular. Fitz is a blue blooded, handsome, smart, successful guy. Olivia is a drop dead gorgeous, equally smart, seductive powerful woman. She is powerful in her own right, yet submissive and seductive in her relationship with him. I can totally see how or why these two would be into each other.

Ugh. I hate Fitz. Can't figure out for the life of me what she sees in him. He's SO WEAK! No matter what is going on in her personal life, she can put her game face on and get it done. Fitz just whines, "I want Olivia. Waaaaaaaa! I'd give up the presidency for you, Olivia! Wah, wah, wah!"

Where the hell is his sense of duty???

I like them together, but you are right. He either needs to just hold up till his term, and not run. Or just quit. Resign. Do it. THEN she'll believe him.

I liked that show. The writing/comedy was really good.

Funny, I think of them as one of the best TV couples (that continued to work and provide strong storylines without the ever-present threat of break up) of all time. They got me watching again.

That episode series where they went to the bahamas(?) during a tropical storm, priceless.

+1

I've always thought Monica & Chandler were very well matched. I could easily see 2 people with their looks & personalities becoming a couple in a real life, particularly if they were friends first.

Now Ross & Rachel on the other hand....

I found Charlotte and Harry somewhat believable because it was on the heels of her WASPy divorce from the one that looked good on paper and Harry was loaded and Jewish men are good to their wives.

You guys are focusing too much on looks. I think it's more about chemistry.

When Ray Romano and Lauren Graham got together on Parenthood, I didn't really buy that.

Blair and Dan

Blair was socially savy, beautiful and super elitist. No matter how friendly she was with Dan, I do not see this ever happening! She belongs with a Prince.

Winner! This was so forced and unrealistic, I couldn't wait till they broke up.

Yes, this was the worst pairing. Now Chuck and Blair, on the other hand ..... super hot!

Yes! I loved Chuck and Blair together. They were my favorite by far

I loved loved Char's first storyline. That sometimes things can be perfect on paper but still broken.

However, I did not believe for a second that such a beautiful, sophisticated, marriage minded woman such as Charlotte can be so miserably single in her late thirties. She'd have found a husband in college.

I found the friendships (except for Miranda--Charlotte in season 6) to be the most unrealistic relationships in SATC.

You win. That coupling was terrible and completely unbelievable.

Interesting that in every single one of OP's examples, you find it unbelievable that the woman would be desirable to the man. Have you stopped to think that you might be holding women to an unrealistic standard - that every man deserves a completely hot gorgeous woman, and the woman's personality or interests don't matter? That it all comes down to a woman's age and looks? I'm sorry, but I know tons of these couples in real life, people somewhat off in looks or brains or money or whatever.

You sound really immature, OP.

Disagree! She was flighty and immature and had no sense of reality. Mark and her were a worse couple; a mid twenties guy would give up having kids for her...?

Hank, however, was as grounded in reality as you could get. He settled her down, in a good way.
