Why do some rich people have terrible crooked teeth?

Anonymous
In general, but especially common is super crowded bottom teeth. Even these rich newsmen and newscasters on TV. David Brooks. Gwen Ifill. I think Chuck Todd too. Weren't braces around in the 70s? Tim Kaine has crooked teeth and fangs. He's a wealthy Harvard lawyer with platinum health care!

Even if you didn't grow up affluent enough for braces, why don't they get them fixed now?

Why are you so judgmental and superficial?

Because money doesn't buy everything

Braces only became an obsession in the 80s. The folks you listed are boomers.

It obviously means more to you than a lot of other people. To some extent, I agree that those people you've mentioned, and many others, have noticeably crowded teeth. However, it doesn't seem to have hindered their success and they are the ones who get to decide if they want to spend 12-24 months of their lives messing with their teeth. It probably has little to do with money.

Maybe they are British?

My teeth were crooked enough for braces in the 80s but my parents decided against them since they didn't really look too bad. In my 30s they're a ducking disaster. Teeth move as you age.

Maybe they are not as shallow as you are?

Maybe they would prefer to spend their money on more enriching and valuable things?

Maybe they base their self worth on their character and their accomplishments and not their looks?

I could go on and on.

How do you fix lower crowded teeth when you're an adult? Do braces even work when you're 30 40 50?

How do they floss? It can't be healthy to have such crowded teeth with regard to breath, gum disease, cavities, flossing.

Wait...what? You think people who have crowded teeth aren't able to floss them?

I look at everyone's teeth.

It's harder to floss obviously.

It may be that they did get them fixed when they were younger but the teeth moved back over time. They may have not worn their retainer, etc. I had braces when I was younger in my 40s now with crowded lower teeth. For what it is worth, I get good marks from my dentist on flossing and hygiene. Have thought about another round of braces but too busy, like most of us in DC area
