Here’s what your missing - he’s a war hero that fought the nazis and was decorated for saving lives of his fellow service men. He sacrificed a career in the military to be the queens companion. He was the patron of hundreds of charities, focusing on the environment, and young people, developed the duke of Edinburgh awards for youth development and plenty more. |
Apologizing? No. Defiantly claiming his ties to the Royal Marines as the only royal who has served overseas in a warfront? Absolutely. https://www.forces.net/news/prince-harrys-tribute-legend-banter-prince-philip

Does Prince Andrew's service in the Falklands War not count? |
| Does anyone know who will give the eulogy |
The first PP pretty much nailed it. He was a whiny thing (why can't my kids have my naaaaaaame?) and always seemed to be focused on what he didn't have. Which was very little. |
Could not agree more with this sentiment. It makes me ill watching the Royal coverage on The Today Show with such deference to Philip, while in the next segment they cut over to coverage on the trial of the murder of George Floyd. It makes no sense that people say that Philip had British humor, while not calling out that he said so many racist things. How is that humorous and given a pass? |

I read it not as an apology, but as highlighting one of many significant things that the two men had in common — their military service. Also, as a correction, there is nothing to indicate that Harry “severed ties with his family “. He did, however, seek to alter his royal role — his job in the family business. Not only is it not the same thing, but the Queen could have made different decisions about how flexible such a role could be. (I’m not arguing that she should have made different decisions— just that I see the severing of his roles as being her decision, and she could have made a different set of decisions.) |
What about the Queen's father and uncle in WWI? |
Wasn't Andrew in the Falklands war? |
Not to mention Philip himself? |
Well, Prince Philip is a royal who served overseas in a warfront. Prince Andrew was a helicopter pilot during the Falklands War and while Prince Charles did not serve overseas, he did command a Navy destroyer and flew both helicopters and jets during his military service. He can defiantly claim his ties to the marines, but he is like any other veteran now. Princess Anne is the Captain General of the Royal Marines, and another royal will take over from her when she relinquishes the title. He gave up so much for so little was often said about his Great Uncle David. May Harry's defiance carry him through that curse. |
| The word is spelled DEFINITELY pp, not Defiantly |
