This is a blue state bug (for now at least)

In other words she did the absolute least.

All these GOP electeds have blood on their hands.

+1 This - barring employers and other institutions from requiring vaccines - was worse than nothing.

Suddenly, Conservatives Care About Vaccines
A number of leaders on the right suddenly urged their audiences to get vaccinated in the past day. Why now?

Yep, the ABSOLUTE LEAST.

Here's Gov. Ivey just last week:

Meeting with media after the Rotary Club appearance, she dismissed the need for dramatic measures to incentivize vaccines.

“The best thing for us to do is just encourage everybody to use that common sense, practice personal responsibility and make themselves and their families safe,” she said. “Take the shot.”

Ivey said she’s also against any plan to go door-to-door offering vaccines.

“No, I’m not willing to do that,” she said. “Mandating how people take care of themselves is their business, not government.

Sadly, this was never about "mandating" how people take care of themselves. But I guess in Alabama, they do it their own )winning) way.

My take on the sudden about face from Rs on vaccinations:
1) Big business told them to get it under control due to possibility of future shutdowns
2) R's want to pivot messaging for upcoming elections: If more white Rs are are vaccinated, they will blame spread of Covid on immigrants; already seeing those seeds planted here and elsewhere; it will be the new "CARAVANS!!!"

Florida hospitals seeing hospitalizations higher than any time since the pandemic began:

I agree - the new messaging will just stoke racism against legal immigrants, asylum seekers, and the undocumented.

But, frankly, we all know it’s spreading through international airports, poor communities of all colors, and white conservatives.

I think it’s likely 1) but also a little of the fact that they realized that their voters will be dying off, truly.

https://www.kff.org/policy-watch/the-red-blue-divide-in-covid-19-vaccination-rates-is-growing/

I’m terrible at numbers anyway and don’t feel like looking up what this represents with Delta’s death rate, number of voters in these places, the margins of elected officials, etc., but how many states are purple or are only being kept red by interfering with the election process (gerrymandering, throwing black people off voting rolls, etc) and how likely are the GOP to lose if x number of their voters dies because they were encouraged to believe that covid was fake and the vaccine is dangerous?

Seriously, if someone mathematically inclined wants to take a guess at a state or two, I’d be curious.

Is it the GOP/Russia goal to have a free running virus totally immune to therapies?

Please, get the damned shot.
