A 147 is uncommon, but definitely not that rare.

If that's so why didn't he get in? It also amazes me since it's the top %1. So what would they need more?

What is the logic behind having a kid take the Stanford Binet and WISC in such a short timeframe. Why isn't one sufficient?
Since he had no other scores (the ones the school gives due to recent move to the county) so when WISC of 147 got rejected I was advised to take SB to cover for the missing school based tests.
What was the score breakdown on the WISC? Is there a notably different subscore?
VCI 142
PRI 145
WMI 138
PSI 128

FSIQ 147

SB is 132 with all sub scores in 130 range.
Don't understand how can FSIQ be higher than all the individual subscore?! I thought FSIQ is a weighted average of the subscores.

I think the ones that post a higher FSIQ are TROLLS.

We are appealing and our DC tool the WISC IV. He has a GBRS of 10. His scores are:

VCI 134
PRI 139
WMI 129
PSI 106
FSIQ 136

What are his chances on an appeal?

This is how it is, the FSIQ is not a very straightforward calculation. You have to know what you are doing that's why is administered by licensed individuals.

I would say it should be good. But I have seen a post here with WISC 147 found not eligible so god knows!

It isn't an average. For example, it's unusual to have a VCI as high as 142 or a PRI as high as 145, but it's even more unusual to have both of these at their given level, so they would contribute to a FSIQ higher than either one, is my understanding.

Third Grade and appealing for AAP (Didn't do last year as we were not aware of the process and didn't even request for Cogat this year. Our ignorance)
SB:140
GBRS: 13

What are the chances for getting in.
NNAT was not very good but would they look at NNAT/COGAT from last year or will GBRS/SB suffice.

Thanks

I saw many folks asking about their chances. Some good Samaritan from last yr compiled this list.

the ones w/ "In" posted back on this forum for future AAP parents. The others I guess did not respond...?
Anonymous
I had posted asking if high WISC more closely correlated to NNAT or Cogat scores.. per this list, it clearly is the NNAT score.

I replied in your thread with my child's scores. I think there are certain students who do not test well on the CogAT the way it is administered. I didn't realize until after my child took it that they read the test to the child. Some (maybe not all?) teachers pause for long periods of time while they wait for all kids to answer. Some kids zone out during this process and miss the next question. Some teachers repeat and some don't. Many kids on the don't understand how to properly score their test paper. In retrospect, it was no surprise to me that my kid did FAR better on the NNAT than CogAT. This was back when they did both in second grade.
