I think there are certain students who do not test well on the CogAT the way it is administered. I didn't realize until after my child took it that they read the test to the child. Some (maybe not all?) teachers pause for long periods of time while they wait for all kids to answer. Some kids zone out during this process and miss the next question. Some teachers repeat and some don't. Many kids on the don't understand how to properly score their test paper. In retrospect, it was no surprise to me that my kid did FAR better on the NNAT than CogAT. This was back when they did both in second grade. [/quote]
