Trump's approval ratings take a hit as tariff turmoil causes economic anxiety

Trump's favorability is on the decline, as voters in multiple recent polls say they oppose his aggressive tariff plan.

WASHINGTON − President Donald Trump's approval ratings are taking a hit amid his tariff-induced trade war and a sinking stock market.

Multiple polls published over the last week found that less than half of Americans approved of the president, with most pointing to Trump's handling of the economy as the reason for their gripes.

In a Reuters/Ipsos poll last week, the president's approval rating fell to 43%, down 4 points from a similar survey back when he took office in January. The poll this month was conducted over three days, concluding on the day of Trump's tariffs announcement, or what he has referred to as "Liberation Day."

Another poll, published by the Wall Street Journal Friday, also found Trump on the back foot with a 46% approval rating. In the survey − which was conducted before the president officially unveiled his sweeping tariffs but after he had repeatedly promised to impose the trade taxes − 54% of voters said they were opposed to Trump's levies.

I’m going to venture a guess here and say a lot of his voters aren’t heavily invested in the market and don’t care college students are being kidnapped by masked people on the street.

White people love Trump and they don’t care if he tanks the economy. They are scared sh#tless of the alternative where they are not in power. So yes, 40% of the country will Approve of Trump regardless of what he does. He can do any horrible thing and 100 million white people will support him.

You need to get into the mindset of a terrified white person addicted to rightwing or even “both sides” media. They will die before admitting Trump is bad.
