NYC Councilman
@JoeBorelliNYC

“Adding the approximately $1.5 billion we have already spent, [the] total projected cost of sheltering migrants in New York City will exceed $12 billion over three fiscal years.”

“The cost of sheltering migrants in New York City, taxpayers could pay to man every firehouse, police station, pick up the garbage, maintain the water and sewers, inspect the buildings, run the airport, and even cut the grass in Dallas parks, a city of 1.3 million people.”

Meanwhile New York continues to bleed higher income residents due to high taxes and crime.

Yes.

During the debates.

"You should come." Believe me when I say people all over the world when they hear that. It's a signal to get moving.

You're an expert on foreign relations? Wow, I love how rightwingers LARP as experts even though they actually disdain knowledge. Maybe hearing from an actual immigration official would be relevant but I'll ignore anonymous opinions from the uneducated on the interwebs.

Why do you have to be an expert on foreign relations? You can't read?

Biden said it. Period. You voted for this. NYC deserves what it gets.

Yes, of course - but interestingly, AOC and her fellow "outraged" liberals are completely silent on the issue. It's so curious.

“Lost” 85,000 children by open border Democrats are easier to rape.

Yeah, let's. Those walls and borders were to keep people in....not out. One of the scariest moments of my life was, in the late 70s, escorting a former East German family member back through The Zone to visit an ailing aunt who lived in West Berlin (and was there by happenstance from the '40s while the rest of the family was stuck in Russian-controlled territory). My family member was terrified the heavily-armed guards would see the name on their US passport, compare it to some roster of those who'd escaped socialist/communist clutches and be arrested or detained. Now, that didn't happen but it sure as hell could've.

That said, I'm not a fan of a wall. But I'd definitely like to see better enforcement of existing laws (like booting visa-overstays), more clear definitions and understanding on what is legally present, faster processing of asylum requests, and a hard 'no' to the things like employment and education that facilitate those who are just 'here' but shouldn't be.

The Berlin Wall separated people in the same city. These were Berlin residents, families, etc.

This is not the Same thing as a Border wall keeping people from other countries entering in illegally.

The Berlin Wall, and the much longer structures along the border of the former East and West Germany, may have had the intention of stopping the “brain drain” from the East, but they also were extremely effective in keeping people out.

One couldn’t enter the former East Germany without being thoroughly vetted, and forget about walking (or swimming) eastward across the border.

I think a border like the one that existed then is what we need to prevent unlimited people from clambering into the US.

To appease all of you “it was made to keep people in!” folks, we can call it the “Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart” - you are all about opposing Fascism, right?

Immigration makes our culture stronger; diversity is our strength and reducing whiteness is an added benefit.

Short term hiccups- long term strength.

Diversity, yes. Criminals, no. We need to check them out first.

Tell that to all the immigrants who have done things the right way by applying and jumping through the hoops and are STILL waiting to be granted entry to the US while millions mosey up to the border and are admitted with almost no vetting.

And, as for your "reducing whiteness" comment.

A little thought experiment... what if I had said "and reducing blackness is an added benefit." Pretty racist, huh?
Yep. Your comment is bigoted and racist.

Remember when people were worried illegal immigrants would take American jobs? We were so precious. Now we'd loooove for them to take some American job, rather than what we have, a deluge of people in homeless shelters.

You're actually reducing blackness. Latinos will work for wages blacks won't. Enjoy your reduction.

This is like setting your house on fire then expecting the fire department to put out the fire AND your neighbors to rebuild it on their dime for the betterment of the neighborhood.
