This is exactly the misogyny that Taylor stands up to. It’s no wonder good students like her so much. |
That’s the majority of Taylor’s audience. If anything it’s ageism, not misogyny. But lets be honest, tweens aren’t known for their cultured tastes. |

Strange use of time to argue online about whether someone is attractive/talented enough. To actually start a thread about it is even stranger. I see thread titles all the time on this board about celebrities I don't like. I don't then click on it and argue with people about it. I just scroll on. |

New poster, but this is what I take issue with. I totally respect not being a fan, but I just don’t get the time and effort to try to convince others that they are dumb for being fans, or wrong for being fans, or that they are being manipulated. First MOST celebrities manipulate the public and there is another ongoing thread in this forum about all the sham celebrity marriages, relationships, paparazzi walks and staged events, and the number of closeted men in Hollywood. So I don’t begrudge Taylor and her marketing team for controlling the narrative or her image. That’s just the business and it does seem like there are some people that hold her to a different different standards than other celebrities. But yeah, trying to convince me that I’m wrong because I think she’s not ugly (?!) or because some of her lyrics are meaningful or interesting to me, or I think that she’s talented, or just like listening to some of her songs….it’s just strange. Just let people like what they like. Life can be hard, and the world can be a depressing place, and if Taylor is bringing some people joy through her music, or even her silly dating life and birthday party distractions, so be it. I really don’t see the harm. |
Taylor Swift is person of the year 2023.
All you nobodies can't handle that so you will whine. We all know who the real winner is.. Hint...not you haters! |
And this is why Taylor fans are mean girls: they attack anyone who doesn’t like her. I do “sing” along with some of her songs but because her fan relies upon meanness I refuse to call myself a fan. Ever. |
You are Maga idiot Yep you deserve those words Taylor has done more for this country as an American than most people in the country She uses her brain unlike you fool. |
OK, tell yourself that if it helps, times are hard right now, I get it. I’ll keep voting blue and standing up for free speech and civil/women’s rights regardless. Taylor fans are very often mean to people online and they don’t seem to understand the principals behind feminism, LGTBQ+ rights, and free speech. Everyone gets those, not just people who praise Taylor. |
Don’t you get it? Taylor is a goddess! The likes of which have never been seen before. Her music is like HEAVEN. And if you don’t agree, you are an ugly, stupid, bully, misogynist! Or a Maga! Because only an ugly evil Maga could hate this level of PERFECTION! The jokes write themselves with this crew. |
If not for my child Swiftie, I would know nothing about her.
I got through knowing nothing about other pop stars. I can’t name songs by other pop stars… Don’t watch Grammy or VMAs. Don’t care. Don’t listen to pop radio. Don’t watch the news. Don’t like the NFL or football. Never knew about Kanye stealing mic from Taylor in 2017 until 2021 until my Swiftie told me. I only learned of TS in 2021 when my Swiftie kid wanted to watch the Grammy Awards. I also know very little about Lady Gaga, can’t name a song, etc. But I did watch her in a movie and think she’s a good actor. |
Whatever. Hitler was also the Time Person of the Year in 1938. And that was when people used to read and PAY for magazines. Even my doctors’ offices don’t subscribe to Time anymore, so who does? |
Taylor is a perfect emblem of the everyone gets a trophy generation.
She wouldn’t be considered a prodigy by her parents if she grew up in the 80s or 90s. People should really apologize to Madonna because she was writing solo songs herself and playing guitar and drums before being signed but she was excoriated for being a no talent non singing harlot and mocked in the 80s . She would’ve gotten a trophy and seen as an amazing insightful talent and feminist if she came out today |
I am surprised she’s never done a hair or fashion line like prom dresses for example. She has underrated /good red carpet and street style. She’s very pedestrian and not trying to be high fashion just a regular girl next door and I like that |
This is it for me. I think she's obviously talented, hard working, very pretty, and seems like a decent human being (loyal friend, does charitable stuff like someone with her money and privileges should). No issues there. And she's obviously prolific, it crazy how many albums she's released and her songs are not bad, some are even pretty good. But her music is just not that memorable to me. Also, she doesn't have a very distinctive sound. Most Taylor songs could easily be songs from other artists, her music is of the time but not very innovative or original. It's just "yes this is what pop music sounds like right now." To some degree this is even by design-- she followed the musical trends from the heavily-produced, dance/club-friendly songs to a more indie, acoustic vibe that was especially embraced during Covid, but she didn't blaze that trail. I remember when Folklore came out, some of the Swifties in my life were like "You're really going to like this one, it the kind of music you like." And it's true it sounds more like the stuff I listen to. Sounds LIKE it. But it's less appealing to me because is that Taylor's authentic musical voice? I don't think so, and I don't think she really has one. She's leaned into this with Eras tour, and intentionally brands herself as a versatile artist going through different versions of herself. But to me this is what makes her weak as an artist, even if that's a pretty impressive branding strategy. Her music is her weak spot, and I can't think of any song or album of hers that will really stand the test of time. |
