But before that shortages!! Inflation! Mask mandates! Closed schools!@ Vaccine mandates!! Immigration! Lockdowns! I'm Maaaaaad!

But what I see? We are employed. Our house is worth a lot. We can work from home. Our schools were only closed for a few months. We are all vaccinated and boosted. Everything has been open for more than a year. Sports are happening. So are Scouts, plays, parties, weddings, funerals, holidays, vacations. Stores have all we need and then some. We never got sick.

Yes things are more expensive. So we have adjusted. Two years ago gas was dirt cheap but there was no place to go. Now everyone wants to travel, so of course hotels, flights are more expensive. Gas prices are jumping because of demand and WAR. Supply and demand, like we were always taught.

I remain grateful every day we have a sane man like Biden in the White House. Trump would be melting down under all this pressure. He was utterly worthless. He passed a tax cut. That is it.

When Trump was president the Russians weren't invading countries, ya know? And we didn't have rampant inflation, ya know?

I'm not the biggest fan of Donald J. Trump but his name doesn't cause me to have mental breakdowns. What is still very clear is that under Biden, we've had the following:

1. Keystone pipeline cancelled, removal of sanctions on the Nord stream pipeline, telling Russia Americans won't get involved, passing on intelligence to China who immediately told Russia = Russian invasion

2. Warnings from prominent economists like Larry Summers (hardly a conservative) that the March 2021 $1400 stimulus check risked tipping the country into inflation = ignored and we entered an inflationary era.

Is this a sane and intelligent president? I remember all the crowings that the adults were back in the room when the Biden administration arrived but ironically days are much darker than they were under Trump. Never had the cluelessness of the governing classes been so exposed and so quickly (Russia, inflation, even COVID). I will, however, grant Biden's administration all the wonderful, bold, BLM and Rainbow flags flying from all our embassies across the world. How progressive!

Here's a bit of advice: most Americans live paycheck to paycheck. They don't have nice massive equity in their house or high paying consulting jobs. They live paycheck to paycheck. Let me emphasize this one more time: they live paycheck to paycheck. When inflation hits, there's really no spare money. It hurts.

There may very well be the electoral equivalent of the French guillotines come this November and it will be the working classes and middle classes punishing the out of touch, increasingly irresponsible and increasingly oblivious Democratic party. The downside is that the Republicans will reap all the benefits even though I don't want them to, but they will.

You put it excellently.

Everything happening now is related to what Trump started, and also related to the pandemic which was not in anyone's control. Biden can't accomplish anything because the GOP blocks him.

Also, what were the Democrats going to do, let people starve and get kicked out of their homes during a pandemic?

Rents are exploding. How are people going to live? They can't afford homes because they juiced the markets with years of low interest rates, and corporations are now buying up all homes for people that your average person cannot compete with. Rents are going up and up and up. The middle class is absolutely done. Biden's inflation is obliterating the middle class.

Remind me again what interest rates were like under Trump? Remind me how much debt Trump took on to give out Covid stimulus?

Unbelievable (well very believable actually since you're clearly arguing in bad faith because that's all Republicans do) that you'd try to lay this on Biden when he was only doing what he had to do to clean up Trump's disaster of a Covid response.

Inflation went up and is skyrocketing under Biden.

Eat it.

And also in every other country on the planet. Totally Biden’s fault.

No it's not. Inflation is very tame in Japan and China. US' inflation is also far worse than the Eurozone's rate of inflation. I love this stupid reflexive and deflective argument from the Dems trying to hide the fact that inflation in the US is the worst in the developed world.

https://tradingeconomics.com/country-list/inflation-rate

US' rate of inflation is almost 2 full percentage points worse than the EU's. We are now only below Russia, Brazil, and Mexico, lol. US is being run more and more like those 3rd world countries than a responsibly run 1st world developed nation. It's also going to be a lot worse when Thursday's inflation numbers come out.

Oh, please. This is DCUM, not Duluth Urban Mom. Cost of living in MN differs greatly from here, and that poster should have been clear that she wasn’t in this area.

There's been more inflation in the midwest than the coasts if you look at the inflation map. Weird that someone in the midwest would claim not to be affected.

PP. I didn't say I wasn't affected. I said I was coping with the inflation with some simple changes.

Maybe.

But the Supreme Court is about to allow states to enslave women, so maybe not.

Also, who knows what things will look like in November.

Wait, who kept the interest rates low and juiced the real estate market? Biden? Seriously? That acceleated significantly during the Trump years.

Idiot Biden injected over a trillion in unneeded stimulus into the economy. He was warned beforehand by economists that the stimulus wasn't needed, and that it would make inflation bad. Lo and behold, look what happened. Biden went after trying to buy the GA vote with the stimulus (remember how idiot AOC was screaming her head off about MoR StImUlUs PlZ!! prior to the GA runoff??). Congrats, he got the short term gain of the GA runoff while creating a much worse problem of inflation that's going to pound the Democrats at the polls this year.

First Democrats said it was transient. Then they said it was because of supply chain. Now they're trying to blame greedy corporations. Because of course it could never, ever be a problem caused by big govt and too much govt spending. This is what happens when you hand out free money and monetize the debt to pay for it. All of the social progs calling for all sorts of socialist programs should heed wrt the serious problems we are facing now. This is what happens when all you do is spend like an idiot and hand out all sorts of freebies.

Covid response is a very complicated topic. There were always alternative opinions on how that should have been handled. 2 weeks to flatten the curve were not meant to become 2 years to flatten economy, people's physical and mental health, their savings, and academic progresss of their kids. It's pretty clear that some states did better, and these were the states that didn't follow the narrative of lockdowns, blaming regular citizens behavior as a sole reason for this pandemic and spread, ridiculous and discriminatory mandates, blatant social engineering of behavior through fear propaganda, masking of toddlers, etc. FL is thriving, Sweden also didn't go extinct as is the rest of the world. And countries with the most draconian lockdown zero covid measures all got their spread in due time. This response was a disaster and cannot be blamed on either of the presidents alone, it was incompetence and corruption of many institutions involved in this, a runaway train of policies driven by fear, indiscriminate cattle-like health policies that took individual doctor-patient relationship out of equation, corruption (many pockets were lined I am sure), social engineering experiments, etc.
