U.S. Annual Inflation rose to 6.8% in November - the highest in 40 years

1/3 of exports not production. Egypt is going to be in big trouble this summer. US farmers are going to get rich.

Temporary Inflation Fee is not a legitimate thing. That is a price increase disguised as a political statement. In this case, it is a 13.33% price increase and the TIF is taxed. If they need to raise prices because of inflation, then raise the prices proportionally. This way is some bullshit.

Raising the prices this way shows exactly what you're paying for. If the customer asks, point to the fact that fryer oil is 60% higher now or cheese is a 34% mark-up or any number of things. Customers have a right to know instead of the fees being 'hidden'.

Those both show an illegitimate, unjustifiable increase that is FAR MORE than the rate of inflation. That is greedy, opportunistic corporate price gouging. Place blame where it actually belongs.

A President ignoring price gouging in every corner in favor of…*checks notes*…cash out to parents?

The U.S. is under a national emergency legally and has been since March 2020. If anyone is caught selling PPE at inflated prices, as they were in the early days, they are prosecuted. So why isn’t the administration doing something about food?

Not sure what you think Biden should be doing about price gouging. Price gouging isn't illegal. It's shitty, and it's worsening the situation for those who are struggling for no good reason, but it isn't illegal.

DP. Gonna have to call false on this one. Over 35 states make price gouging illegal in certain circumstances.

+100

I'm glad a restaurant is upfront about the extra fee instead of trying to hide it with smaller portions etc.

Is there a big sign saying the prices are not the full prices? If it is part of the price then add it to the price. This doesn’t honestly show what you are paying for. Prices are not based on the cost, they are based on what people will pay. What is the markup on that $5.50 beer?

The liberal desperation to spin this as anything but the heavy increase in market costs is just fascinating to me.

- signed a Biden voter

Spin what? It is what it is. Inflation comes and goes, as you are well aware.

What is it that you think that Biden has done to cause (in the 1 year he's been in office) the current situation? And what do you think he can do to IMMEDIATELY give relief, which is what people like you seem to want? Other than whining about it and blaming him - answer those questions!

Has he caused the increase in prices in other countries experiencing this same thing? (Hint: You already know the answer to that one, which should give you some insight into the first question).

I get people are mad or upset about some of the prices on things. But, you don't seem to know jack sh-- about what caused it.

Be my guest. That won't change anything. But, you already know that are just being an a-hole.

The endless outrage machine is in full gear. Gas prices now.
But before that shortages!! Inflation! Mask mandates! Closed schools!@ Vaccine mandates!! Immigration! Lockdowns! I'm Maaaaaad!

But what I see? We are employed. Our house is worth a lot. We can work from home. Our schools were only closed for a few months. We are all vaccinated and boosted. Everything has been open for more than a year. Sports are happening. So are Scouts, plays, parties, weddings, funerals, holidays, vacations. Stores have all we need and then some. We never got sick.

Yes things are more expensive. So we have adjusted. Two years ago gas was dirt cheap but there was no place to go. Now everyone wants to travel, so of course hotels, flights are more expensive. Gas prices are jumping because of demand and WAR. Supply and demand, like we were always taught.

I remain grateful every day we have a sane man like Biden in the White House. Trump would be melting down under all this pressure. He was utterly worthless. He passed a tax cut. That is it.

So. Much. Assumption.

Nope. No private schools. We are now in a Dem state in the Midwest. All public schools.

My DH was laid off in 2016 and does consulting. I work 3/4 time and carry the family health insurance. Kids work for their own spending money.

We drive old cars and economize. We don't bother keeping up with the Joneses. We shop at Aldi's, Costco, Salvation Army if needed.

We are not coddled like so much of the DCUM.

When Trump was president the Russians weren't invading countries, ya know? And we didn't have rampant inflation, ya know?

I'm not the biggest fan of Donald J. Trump but his name doesn't cause me to have mental breakdowns. What is still very clear is that under Biden, we've had the following:

1. Keystone pipeline cancelled, removal of sanctions on the Nord stream pipeline, telling Russia Americans won't get involved, passing on intelligence to China who immediately told Russia = Russian invasion

2. Warnings from prominent economists like Larry Summers (hardly a conservative) that the March 2021 $1400 stimulus check risked tipping the country into inflation = ignored and we entered an inflationary era.

Is this a sane and intelligent president? I remember all the crowings that the adults were back in the room when the Biden administration arrived but ironically days are much darker than they were under Trump. Never had the cluelessness of the governing classes been so exposed and so quickly (Russia, inflation, even COVID). I will, however, grant Biden's administration all the wonderful, bold, BLM and Rainbow flags flying from all our embassies across the world. How progressive!

Here's a bit of advice: most Americans live paycheck to paycheck. They don't have nice massive equity in their house or high paying consulting jobs. They live paycheck to paycheck. Let me emphasize this one more time: they live paycheck to paycheck. When inflation hits, there's really no spare money. It hurts.

There may very well be the electoral equivalent of the French guillotines come this November and it will be the working classes and middle classes punishing the out of touch, increasingly irresponsible and increasingly oblivious Democratic party. The downside is that the Republicans will reap all the benefits even though I don't want them to, but they will.

Oh, please. This is DCUM, not Duluth Urban Mom. Cost of living in MN differs greatly from here, and that poster should have been clear that she wasn’t in this area.

There's been more inflation in the midwest than the coasts if you look at the inflation map. Weird that someone in the midwest would claim not to be affected.
