And now Manchin owns any failure to pass some form of BBB. He has the pen, he can set the priorities. If it’s so easy to put together a bill with bipartisan support, he should have this done quickly, right?

They are calling Joe's bluff by giving him the pen.

And if Joe doesn't quickly put that pen to paper and do something solid and meaningful to help fix the damage he's done in the form of a sound, solid meaningful revised BBB bill that he, Sinema, the Democrats, and 10 Republicans he previously promised are willing to pass, then that's the final incontrovertible evidence that he has NOT acted in good faith.

Tick tock Joe. If he screws this up I think Dems should abandon him and focus all their money and energies on flippable red Senate seats like PA.

LOL You really don't know how this works do you?

A) They 'called his bluff' last month when they put the Voting Rights legislation fillibuster up for a vote and he + Sinema publicly, on the record, balls to the wind - VOTED IT DOWN. That was the most embarassing thing I've ever seen for the Democratic party. They did that to test the waters so to speak and he put his balls on the table and said try me. Why do you think Schumer hasn't even had a whisper of BBB since then? They're defeated - they're no way they'll put that mega-bill up for a vote now because they know he'll happily vote it down too.

B) Flippable red seats...in Pennsylvania. Okay. Have won waiting on that Senate majority. I'm assuming you mean from this year's midterms right? In a year when Covid has gotten worse, inflation is topping 7%, and Biden is calling people racists from the podium. haha So screwed.

C) The only one who cares that he didn't act in 'good faith' is you. You sound like a toddler saying 'But he promised!!' The only one who promised something is the other Joe and that's not Manchin's problem.

Wow, a sitting U.S. Senator confirming exactly what I said about them already calling his bluff and Manchin telling them to f themselves. They looked so weak lol.

“It’s not coming to the floor until we have the votes,” said one Democratic senator, granted anonymity to discuss party strategy. “We had to do it for voting rights for historic purposes and because we couldn’t leave the filibuster question unanswered. But generally, you don’t want to rack up a bunch of losses in a row.

Joe does not want any bill now. Of any amount. I do not get what the strategy was here on the part of democratic leadership. They have 1.7 trillion. They had 1.3 trillion. And now they have nothing. He will not pick the pen up. It is over. Leadership should be putting forward those pieces of BBB that can pass and get something done. But they won't.

I wouldn't want any bill either at 7.5% inflation. The leadership is nuts and so are Warren, AOC, Sanders and Biden. Like I get they don't have a plan two but its time to move on to PLAN FOUR. Ditch all mention of BBB, focus on inflation, gas prices, getting food commodities under control and raising taxes. Like just do your job. Your wish list is dead.

In total agreement. The weird thing is Manchin is 5 years younger than Biden - you wouldn't know by the way Biden seems to have a looping sense of short-term memory loss.

Democrats should break things up from the bill and make everyone vote. Make them vote for or against a child care bill. Our income was too high to receive the monthly child credit but I have friends and family that really needed it. Single moms that used it for food and therapy for their kids. Another family who needed it for health care and dental expenses for their kids. Make them go on the record that they think people should suck it up and do better. These omnibus bills make it harder for the. America public to see when Congress blocks or votes down policies or programs that the majority of Americans want. Make them vote so they have an easy to understand record that the public can judge them on.

For the programs you id’d, unless there is a tax hike or a slash of the obscene defense budget to pay for them and limit the benefits to the lower middle class and below there’s no way anyone is going to support programs like these with ever higher inflation and in an election year.

I know three Mom's with children who used the increased monies to fly from Maryland to Miami to get Brazilian butt lifts.

Sigh.

A) Sinema is NOT up for reelection until 2025.

B) There is a vulnerable Senator in Arizona. His name is Mark Kelly and HE is up for reelection 2022.

C) You'll be lucky to keep the House at this rate. Keep ignoring inflation.

We will remember Sinema. Make no mistake, we will remember.
As for Mark Kelly he's a g_dam ASTRONAUT and national hero. And he is NOT in that much trouble in AZ. Good luck topping Kelly.

You might want to remember what happened with Susan Collins in 2020. I believe the Dems promised to bury her. Guess whose still in Congress?

As for Kelly - and? So he’s an astronaut. His fellow Congressman representing North Carolina is a high school dropout who beat a federal administrative judge and veteran. The collective American public are idiots.

Welp, told you.

Collectively, the four Democratic senators most at risk — Mr. Warnock, Mr. Kelly, Ms. Cortez Masto and Ms. Hassan — are neither national stars nor senior members of leadership. They are vulnerable not because of policies they passed or failed to pass. Rather, they are incumbents in battleground states in a year of hostile political weather for Democrats, with rising inflation, voter anger at the party in charge and President Biden’s sinking job approval.

Even though the president won all four of their states in 2020, his margins were so slim that small shifts in partisan enthusiasm or the allegiance of swing voters, especially suburbanites, could bring Republican victories.

Mr. Warnock, Georgia’s first Black senator, and Mr. Kelly, a former astronaut, are defending seats in longtime Republican strongholds that Mr. Biden carried by less than one percentage point.
