Simple question: if there was something so damning about Trump in the files, why hasnt some mole, former FBI agent, former DOJ prosecutor or anyone else teased or leaked it? The former administration had access to these files and presumably dozens of people reviewed them, yet not one peep about anything… (and I can’t stand Trump)

Because ironically the DOJ wasn’t politicized previously. People did not leak for fear of losing their jobs. Also Trump is super litigious and always has been. Also our society really doesn’t care about sex crimes against women. Look at how people have commented on the E Jean Carroll case. Society sh*ts on women/girls who are abused because somehow they think they asked for it.

These were not teens marrying men in their twenties.

These were traumatized, vulnerable girls being coerced into performing sexual acts on old men that probably revolted them. (Some had been victims of incest, recently lost their fathers, were seeking medical care for their mothers with cancer, financially destitute). It definitely sick to think you’ve hit the sexual jackpot when you meet an adolescent under those conditions.

PP knows more about the legalities of sexual abuse. But there is no debating that these were sick, selfish men who got off by children who were beaten down. Call it what you will.

Because it implicates crimes that go beyond child rape and people are worried they'll be killed if they are the ones who leak it. Let's be real - our country doesn't care that much about girls. Old men raping 15 year olds isn't enough to get people killed. This is going to be a Pandora's box of crimes once the lid is off.

The reference to history confuses me.

We also used to let children work in coal mines. And men could beat their wives with no repercussions. Masters could rape their slaves. In some countries, honor killings of daughters by fathers is accepted.

Society, hopefully evolves. Women have more of a voice now. We have options beyond getting married to support ourselves.

What once was should definitely NOT be our touchstone.
