Authorities in several French towns have implemented bans on the Burkini, which covers the body and head, citing concerns about religious clothing in the wake of recent terrorist killings in the country.

The images of police confronting the woman in Nice on Tuesday show at least four police officers standing over a woman who was resting on the shore at the town’s Promenade des Anglais, the scene of last month’s Bastille Day lorry attack.

If that's what the woman was wearing in Nice, I don't see any problem and think the police are overreacting. I base my opinion solely on what I see in the photo.

As a product of Catholic schools decades ago, I like the photo of nuns frolicking on the beach. A more tender time and photo versus the woman in Nice. She must have been terrified and violated to remove her clothes (if that's what happened) in front of males and other onlookers. They could've escorted her off the beach, fair or not, if necessary but making her strip in public is reprehensible. Would that have been okay demanding a nun in full habit remove her clothing in public?

Clearly that law is bigoted. I'm glad we have no such laws here.

If the photo of the Nuns was taken before the ban last week, it makes no sense. When was the photo taken?

Heard this while driving to work on NPR. They were interviewing the deputy mayor and the guy was adamant that it is provocative of the Muslim women to wear the Burkini. He was also claiming that the nuns wear the clothes on teir own will and the Muslim women are obliged to wear this.

Pretty sad that ISIS/terrorists seem to be winning; they seem to be changing the way a secular country behaves. They seem to have proven that west is the enemy of Islam.

This is atrocious for Nice police to behave this way - but would be acceptable by many. Shameful!

The people in the photo watching as the Muslim woman disrobed don't look too fearful or afraid.

I am Christian and I would've been humiliated if I had been forced to disrobe on the beach. If the police were that concerned, why didn't they escort her off the beach?

And it plays right into the extremists hands. It says, "See, the west hates you. Join us in fighting them."

My apologies, this was actually taken in Italy, possibly as a form of protest.

Why are you apologizing? And why would you think people enjoying the beach constitutes a protest?

Here's a picture of the burkini. It reminds me of swimsuits worn in America in the 1920s. I don't see the big deal.

A government that forbids you from wearing a burkini is as bad as a government that demands that you wear one.

I don't understand why this picture from Italy has any bearing on the matter of the Burkini in France.

It doesn’t.
This whole post was begun by someone who expected total outrage from the feminists on DCUM.

+1 I've been saying the same thing. NO govt should tell a civilian person what to wear.
