Fire in upper NW?

There must be another car involved. Public transportation too far away; not plausible they would take it. Or do 2 guys leave in Porsche and one gets dropped off at metro? Why would they do that?

In my opinion, Porsche was taken to church parking lot at 1:30. Perp goes home, showers, etc. Then comes back to torch it at 5:30.

Very plausible idea about the Porsche being left in the church parking lot while Wint went to get himself cleaned up at 1:30. He was taking a huge risk that no one would notice the car and link it with the house fire, but maybe that lot is pretty empty during the week.

We know someone stole the cell phones from the home, probably Wint. I'm sure he had control of all 3 phones at that point.
Couldn't he have looked up the number from Ms. Figueroa'ss phone and called it from Mr. Savapoulos phone?
Alternatively, Mr. Savapoulos was reportedly a very involved Dad, and may well have needed to communicate with Ms. Figueroa periodically to discuss details about Philip's care, home improvement contractors coming to the home, etc.

The housekeeper seems to have not been brutalized to the extent that the rest of the family were. At least from the reports that are available now. Mr. and Mrs. Savapoulos both had reported blunt injuries and/or stab wounds. Ms. Figueroa was still alive when the first responders arrived and did not die until she reached the hospital. That does make the crime sound more personal. Hatred for the rich in general ? Feeling wronged by Mr. Savapoulos for some psycho reason? Jealousy? All reasons that others have put forward. I hope the truth will come out eventually.

But if Wint grew up in Guyana, he probably has a fairly strong accent.

Thanks for the update. Those poor innocent people.

The evidence seems to be multiplying and I don't see how Wint or his defense attorney could ever explain it away.

OMG :'( and there are protest over a flash mob at a pool take over..while national news media are flocking to Texas..this family and their housekeep have all but been forgotten..or people don't care. :'( Sick Evil Heartbreaking

Good point, it would have had to be Mr. Savapoulos speaking. But the initial concern was that he wouldn't have had Mr. Figueroa's # on his phone. My explanation was to address why he may have had it , or that he was forced to dial the # provided by Ms Figueroa or already in his phone.

God this is so sickening. More arrests please!

_Concern arose in reading about the 2 escaped prisoners from NY and the massive manhunt for them.

1) Wondering what laws, safeguards, etc can give the community the highest level of protection against the escape of a convicted murderer of such cruelty? What can the community really rely on?

2) What is the educational component of correctional officers on developing relationships with prisoners.? In many cases, especially Maryland it is women guards that where lured into helping the prisoners in a variety of ways. This seems to be the case in the NY escape where they have 400+ officers looking for escapees.

Justice and safety are key issues here

Do you realize how rare prisoner escape is?

[/i]5. Assuming it was SS at 11:54 Thursday call to Jordan, what possible purpose to that call?
It was probably DW using SS phone (assuming you think Jordan is involved). it may have been a code...just let the phone ring, or Jordan willfully didn't answer.

But I do not assume that JW was involved with Wint. In fact, I am convinced that he was not.

Wouldn't there be two videos then?

Depends on how he left the Porsche the first time. There wasn't video surveillance of the church lot; it just happens that the running man exited the area and passed by the camera of an adjacent business at 5:30. If he parked the Porsche at 1:40 and cut through a different alley, it might not surface on video.

1. How did everyone recognize Figueroa's husband so quickly at the door that SS was able to call him within a minute or two of his arrival? That implies cameras still up at front door, no?

2. That he was able to call Figueroa's husband on his cell to me is proof positive that Vera was conscious in the morning (we know she was alive, but others have speculated about her condition). Why didn't they just stay quiet and let Mr. Figueroa leave? Why call him and wave him off?

3. How did SS get home from the dojo? In what car? What car was AS driving?

4. Why take the Porsche at all, given that there must have been some other way of leaving if there was more than one perpetrator?

5. Assuming it was SS at 11:54 Thursday call to Jordan, what possible purpose to that call?

I've been troubled by this for a while - it's the main reason why I think Wint did this alone

JW is a US citizen I believe , so wondering why would he need his passport in his backpack?

I think he treated all 4 the same but was ineffectual. he beat and stabbed all four - but it isn't so easy to kill someone and people survive horrific things. Then he douced all 4 with gasoline, but the fire pettered out before it got to the adults, who were found covered with gas but not burnt. The maid would have the exact same injuries as the child (would have died partially from fire) if the fire had not petered out.

The most awful part for me is that all but one died hearing/watching others die.

I did not realize that carrying a passport is evidence of criminal intent. I am a US citizen and I have carried by passport in my backpack before without intending to flee the country. It is a useful ID in the DC area, where some secure facilities require two photo IDs.

Back to JW, as far as we know, all he did was make a delivery as instructed by his boss.

I actually agree with pp. SS was a strong guy with his family on the line - VF was an older woman who wasn't the target money-wise. Clearly SS was treated worse.
