NYT and WaPo report Biden is close to stepping down

Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio has called upon Biden to drop out of the race.

Will expect a few more on a Friday evening

I won’t vote for Biden nor will I vote at all if he is the D party candidate. The push for an earlier virtual roll call vote confirms my lack of confidence in the entire set of party powers.

You don’t get to just throw those out because of some bad polls. Bush senior was down 17 points to Dukakis after the 1988 Dem convention and we know how that turned out. The time to promote Biden alternatives was the primary.

This.

“We have to save democracy from Trump…..but first let us throw out 14,000,000 votes and drive an elected POTUS out of office with a vicious rumor campaign.”

I’ve been a Democrat since 2000 but this is height of hypocrisy.

No one else was on my primary D ballot. I chose “other,” because I was annoyed Biden was running again. The DNC had a few years to find someone else and promote them. They chose not to do that.

How can we reject the man who single-handedly saved democracy?

There are still a ton of people who will never vote for Trump, and would vote for whomever is on the Democrat ballot.
But the combination of Democrat chaos and the successful messaging from Republicans will cause Trump to get 5-10% more votes than he would have otherwise. That will translate into a landslide in the electoral college.

Sure, I'd vote for him over Trump, I'd vote for anyone really at this point who isn't a felon, Epstein pedo buddy, general scumbag.

True. Biden was always a stop gap candidate. He feels betrayed right now by his peers, but that's entitled behavior. He was never in the same class, and he should just be eternally grateful he made it one term.

Why shouldn't Trump do this. He's just as old and delusional and really likes to golf and winter in Florida! He's the ideal retirement candidate.

Stop whatabouting. Just stop.
Trump is no spring chicken but Biden has crossed that line from old to “too old”. He seems feeble and weak. He seems confused.

Trump surviving the assasination attempt has catapulted him to look “strong”. Biden cant compete with that. He can barely walk up steps.

I hate trump with every fiber of my being but Biden has to acknowledge he is winning zero independents with this perception and losing dems who are not enthusiastic and will stay home. NJ is in play for Gods sake. NJ!!

Did you watch Trump's speech last night? He sounded not only old, but stupid and insane, as always. Biden had a bad debate. Fine. He's still mentally sharper than Trump. And regardless, despite what a couple of people on this thread think, no one wants President Harris.

Trump is old and much slower than he was. Heck, the Republicans even highlighted Trump's decline by showing the famous Oprah interview Trump gave decades ago about running for president.

But the idea that Biden is "mentally sharper than Trump" is so delusional as to make me worry you're off your meds. Even the media is finally fessing up to Biden's decomposition. Trump ain't great (compare with JD Vance's ability to speak), but he's miles better than Joe.

I agree. Democrats can do nothing about the fact that conservatism is unable to surgically remove its Trump parasite. The GOP is now a MAGA zombie. All the never Trumpers have fled the party.

But Democrats can do BETTER than the GOP, and surgically remove Biden. He's a nice guy, unlike Trump, but he's even more physically impaired, which is saying something!

Harris 2024. We can do it.

How?

Simple. Biden makes a nice speech this weekend or next week, anointing Harris as his replacement on the ticket. Harris makes an even better speech, where we can actually hear every word and it makes sense, without any "c'mon", "folks", "not a joke" or "here's the deal".

The Biden/Harris campaign war chest turns over to Harris, since her name was on the accounts as VP anyway. Some repub lawyers threaten lawsuits, it leads to nothing. The DNC can always get the money back from the campaign and funnel it to a new ad-hoc Harris campaign if there is a lawsuit. Money leads to an ads blitz, and merch, and grass-roots local campaign efforts everywhere and especially in the swing states. Momentum builds for Harris and her VP. People are EXCITED to vote for a normal, sane person with all her marbles! First woman President, and she's an African-Indian no less!!!

We win the election, and reenergize down ballot campaigns. Blue sweeps everything. AOC and Sanders find they backed the wrong horse and get relegated to the back of the class.

But what if he doesn't want to?

Remember Biden *won* the nomination through a democratic process. You cannot deny that.

Oh honey that was last year's narrative.. Despite being told relentlessly for the past 4 years that Biden is the only one who can beat Trump we are now to believe that whoever George Clooney and his Hollywood friends chooses as the pick can do the job.

What a selfish decision by Joe & Co. He has a 30% approval rating, and blue states are now in play!

And, yes, I’m a Black woman who wants to vote for someone under 60, FFS! 70, even! I’m so tired of hearing that Black people want Joe. No one asked me.

I’ll never forgive Joe for this selfish BS.

This!!! Co-signed black woman in her 40’s. We dont want joe!

How do you feel about Kamala?

Totally fine. I’ll vote for any dem that is under 75

The lack of respect of the office of the Presidency by these backstabbing Gen X bedwetters is unreal. You’re poisoning the Democratic Party for a generation if you drive out the duly elected President and dump 14,000,000 votes.

What’s the point of democracy if Dem donors know better than everyone else?

And unreasonable. Biden, however, is not immune from reason. He is being convinced right now. He is coming to the correct conclusion.

He just released a statement that he isn’t dropping out.

He will be dropping out soon.

Agree. DNC and democrat power brokers have had it with Joe. He will drop soon because they will hold release of Hur tapes and/or his big guy shady business deals over his head. He’s unable to understand but Jill and Hunter will be smart enough to take the deal.

No.

EVERYONE has had it with Joe. It's an outrage that his decline was hidden by his closest circle in 2024. He was mumbling and getting confused before that, but the average voter could be excused for not paying attention, and the Dem elected representatives and media were too cowardly to come together to push him aside. Biden's decline became more pronounced this spring, until it couldn't be hidden at all, despite his circle's best efforts. So now everyone is Big Mad, everyone feels betrayed, and most people recognize Harris has the best shot at beating Trump than all the alternatives.

Harris it is. Get on board.

Oh honey, keep up it;s not Harris either.

I’m the first PP “[NP]”

I am quite neutral on Harris. I have been a Pete Buttigieg supporter since 2019. Ideally, Harris is the top of the ticket with Pete as her running mate.

Tha'ts not a winning ticket ,if this is about beating Trump. You shills really love pushing Buttigieg
