Matty and Taylor

This situation is at the point that the most deluded fans are seeing "clues" in everything. And then if the connections don't add up it's only because Taylor's setting up red herrings to confuse everyone.

Maybe these songs aren’t even about Marty, if they were never that serious. The whole thing is really odd. I’m so over trying to figure it out.

Taylor however apparently knows him very well - “best friend”, “my twin”, 10 years - and she clearly loved him like crazy. He must have a lot of redeeming qualities to evoke such feelings of love and devotion.

I think they helped each other with their song writing and performance skills, among other things. I see a lot of similarities in video and stage set aesthetics, lyrics, melodies… She probably respects him highly for that to have happened.

You're idealizing an unhealthy attachment. No one really knows these people or what happened between them.

10 years of hit songs are a pretty good indication. From at least 5-6 songs on Reputation, through her next 5 albums, culminating with the majority of songs on TTPD. We don’t need to know the details to understand how important her feelings for Matty were.
He is The 1, End Game, Glitch, Maroon, August, Cardigan, Cowboy Like Me, Dancing With Our Hands Tied, Illicit Affairs and dozens of others. That was not “a manic phase”, that was most of her adult life so far.

Anonymous wrote:“Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve” and “The Manuscript” both reference a very young woman out of her depth with an older man who knows exactly what he’s doing. She wanted to think she was as grown up and wise as he told her she was and realized years later that she absolutely had not been. Regardless of the fact that TS was legally an adult, she now sees the man in those songs as predatory. (Even so more than she did when she wrote “Dear John.” She wrote the newer songs when she was about the age Mayer was when they were together. The gap between 19 and early 30s must have seemed endless.)

The MH songs might be pissed off or broken-hearted, but she clearly engages him as an equal. It’s a really different vibe.

Exactly.

Sounds like the two of them have this all planned out.

“He loves the attention it’s brought to him, [but] he also thinks it’s hilarious because at no time [were they] ever serious,” the friend claims.

Healy’s pal adds that the musician was “completely blindsided” by TTPD’s “lyrical content,” especially Swift’s allusions to her and a love interest discussing marriage and children.

“For her to be saying things about baby carriages … and living together — he says it had never even come up,” the friend says. “He’s taking it in stride.”

This is fake news. Matty’s fans know that he never talks to the press like that. He doesn’t have a PR person either. He loves and respects Taylor and wouldn’t speak about her to a gossip site. He is a gentleman to the core.

And yes, she is sending him lyrical messages. She just played “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” from Midnights and “Daylight” from Lover as her surprise songs in Edinburgh tonight. Both are about Matty.

He didn't talk to the press. These are quotes from a friend. US Magazine is pretty reputable - I believe this.

Omg, people.

When a “friend” is quoted talking about a celebrity, it is the celebrity’s PR person off the record.

Matty doesn’t have a PR person nor does he talk to the press like that.

They were serious and intense for a long time. It was kept a secret. Then they finally got together publicly last spring, both were the happiest they’ve ever been, literally beaming on stage, but the heat on him was too much so he left. He was mad at her for not speaking out and not defending him and for trying to manage him with her Ice Spice PR stint, and she was mad at him for not sticking with her despite the insults and threats from her fans.

Both have been hurting since the split. She is a functioning alcoholic and he just looks sad and melancholic. She is very good at hiding it and has a big team helping her with her image.

None of us knows the truth of what's going on with them.

I agree. Besides, he is always defending Taylor and playing their relationship down, like here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjvxfBafU0g

I like how he adds "through Jack" so no one would suspect what was going on. I assume her PR people asked them to keep their hookups secret years ago, and he kept his word.
