I have been a fan of his band for years, seen them live twice, and I have the biggest celeb crush on him. I too would be devastated if I had him and then lost him. I love her new album because I picture the exact man these songs were written for!

Where is this notion coming for that lyrics are hyper literal non fiction? It's just entertainment. Stop getting so wrapped up in this. It's like hyper analyzing gang banging drug dealing rap lyrics.

seriously. even if all these songs are about matty it doesn't mean he is actually so central to her romantic life. he could be central to her songs without being equally important in reality.

THIS. It’s so ridiculous to be demanding exact facts be correct. US weekly just reported that Matty finds the album “hilarious” because he never said anything about marriage or kids like OMG dude maybe it wasn’t all a giant ode to you maybe she’s actually had some other life experiences at 34 just having ended a six year relationship who knows wild

lol. it's not a documentary. it just makes for a good/better song.

Exactly. Like it’s okay to just be inspired. Also these songs are feelings. Has nobody ever had a crazy breakup and just experienced an onslaught of emotions that are intense but pass?! That is what this is about. Feelings. Moments in time.

yes! writers meet people briefly and then turn them into major characters in their novels. it doesn't make them obsessed - it's just that having a specific person in mind often helps move the story along.

Are they still sending each other smoke signals? TS seems to be picking surprise songs at her tour for him.

“He loves the attention it’s brought to him, [but] he also thinks it’s hilarious because at no time [were they] ever serious,” the friend claims.

Healy’s pal adds that the musician was “completely blindsided” by TTPD’s “lyrical content,” especially Swift’s allusions to her and a love interest discussing marriage and children.

“For her to be saying things about baby carriages … and living together — he says it had never even come up,” the friend says. “He’s taking it in stride.”

matty hates this attention. that friend is either from Gabriette's circle or from herself (she uses the word hilarious in quotes other times)

Matty dropped a very "IM SORRY I PUSHED YOU AWAY" song right after Taylor played her surprise songs in Scotland today on his IG stories.

This is fake news. Matty’s fans know that he never talks to the press like that. He doesn’t have a PR person either. He loves and respects Taylor and wouldn’t speak about her to a gossip site. He is a gentleman to the core.

And yes, she is sending him lyrical messages. She just played “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” from Midnights and “Daylight” from Lover as her surprise songs in Edinburgh tonight. Both are about Matty.

No way Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve is about Matty. “Danced with the devil at 19” “Give me back my girlhood”…those are definite John Mayer references.

That quote isn’t Matty saying that, it says ‘his friend’. Not that it makes it any more credible.

No way she was singing about John Mayer on Midnights, 14 years after a brief fling. She has been known to use red herrings and deliberately mislead about places and situations. She was crushing on Matty hard around the writing and recording of Midnights.

Tonight she sang All Of The Girls You Loved Before, also about MH.

“Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve” and “The Manuscript” both reference a very young woman out of her depth with an older man who knows exactly what he’s doing. She wanted to think she was as grown up and wise as he told her she was and realized years later that she absolutely had not been. Regardless of the fact that TS was legally an adult, she now sees the man in those songs as predatory. (Even so more than she did when she wrote “Dear John.” She wrote the newer songs when she was about the age Mayer was when they were together. The gap between 19 and early 30s must have seemed endless.)

The MH songs might be pissed off or broken-hearted, but she clearly engages him as an equal. It’s a really different vibe.

He didn't talk to the press. These are quotes from a friend. US Magazine is pretty reputable - I believe this.

Sounds like the two of them have this all planned out.

Omg, people.

When a “friend” is quoted talking about a celebrity, it is the celebrity’s PR person off the record.
