VA Public Schools other than FCPS
And, a lot of people who voted against him also send their kids to private schools. I doubt that Potomac School or Landon is full of GOP voters. |
|
Those poor LGBTQ+ kids out in VA MAGA land.
Amy word from LCPS? Have they fallen to the nutters? |
|
What amazes me in all of this is that at the end of the day we are talking about just 5% of the population.
Why all the hoopla? There are more kids with disabilities then there are trans kids. Why don't they get all this attention? |
Because they aren't the targets of Republicans. |
Disabled kids are targets of Republicans, but in much more insidious ways. They’re fine with forcing you to have disabled kids, but the responsibility is 100% on you the parents to take care of all of their needs for life. |
Gee. The Democrats want to get rid of disabled kids? I don't believe that, but, basically that is what you just posted. |
Youngkin hired Lisa Coons as superintendent. She is widely respected in the educational field and is one of the strongest supporters of structured literacy and a content rich curriculum. APS under Dr Duran has moved to structured literacy and has adopted CKLA which is a content rich curriculum. He has a good working relationship with Coons and they both respect each other. Not everything is black or white. |
That has ZERO to do with Youngkin. |
I didn’t say that it did. The PP had asked about what Youngkin has done that has been a success. I didn’t vote for Youngkin but I was pleased by his appointment of Lisa Coons and consider it a success. I mentioned Duran and APS to show that on this issue, they are in alignment with Lisa Coons. I know that the ELA department is very happy about Lisa Coon’s appointment. Not everything is an attack or a fight. Try to take the comments that people have in good faith. Also realize that not everything is black and white. I for example am a strong supporter of Dr Duran, didn’t vote for Youngkin, but believe that parents should be notified if their child is presenting as a different gender. A lot of people like me exist (not with my specific viewpoints. But with viewpoints that are a mix of both sides). The problem is that the extremists dominate the debate and when the rest of us try to engage we get attacked and labeled and put in a category that doesn’t represent us. |
No. Democrats want people to be free from government interference in medical decisions they make about their own bodies. Democrats do not want to force women to give birth when they do not want to be pregnant. Democrats support robust, well-funded social services for people with disabilities throughout their lifespans, including funding for public education, rather than being convened only with scoring political points with feigned concern about blastocysts, embryos, and fetuses. Democrats actually advocate for the needs of born children. |
She's certainly better than Jillian Balow. One issue is if a kid doesn't have supportive parents. APS shouldn't be forced to "out" the kid to their parents. |
| I posted earlier as the parent of a trans child but could not bring myself to engage further after this thread truly devolved into meanness and pettiness. I am chiming back in to point you to the story and picture in the post today of a former Republican congresswoman and her trans son. Those of you who insist that this trans man as he currently presents should use the women's room, what would you do if you saw him in there? I can guarantee your first thought would not be that this bearded person who presents as fully male must be a biological woman who totally belongs in the women's room. (I have no idea what his physical situation is obviously, but at least for my son if you pulled down his pants you would still think male not female). Those who support bathroom rules, what do you think about this person in the ladies locker room? |

I personally don’t support Youngkin’s bathroom guidelines. However believe that children shouldn’t be socially transitioned by a school without the permission of their parents. |
How do you determine which kids are genuinely transitioning vs those experimenting. I can see some immature middle school boys having a good time with this. |
