Imagine if fcps gave this much focus to increasing math and English scores

Sounds like schools can just ignore it?

They can. It’s just a sample policy and guidance, school boards can make their own recommendations. Not sure why the collective freak out. Even the Washington post was measured.

Signed,
Women-hating bigots

You sound like a lovely person. With nothing substantive in your post whatsoever. Just calling names.

Back to the substance of the subject of this particular thread, the whole reason Youngkin got elected, in a democratic election, was school policy. The majority of voters supported him. If there's a lot of news coverage on this new policy, that might energize his base again.

Truth hurts.

His “base” consists of racists (CRT!) and bigots (bathrooms!).

The racism was against us - at FCPS. Families were so racist, and the curriculum so lacking, we quit. It's 100% why we left.

What has he done that's been a success? Serious question. I haven't seen any education successes that are his.

There’s a lid for every trash can.

Right. Tell the GOP to drop this wedge issue so schools won’t need to spend as much time addressing the crazies.

It's hard for suicidal students or students who don't feel safe to learn.

Success can be measured simply by what has not transpired rather than what has.

You realize this thread is in the "VA Public Schools other than FCPS?"

so should APS

and sadly this is the only kind of issue that gets parents riled up in APS. Academics are of little concern to them

It would be nice if our culture war governor would let schools focus on academics or better yet pass policies and give funding to support them.

So you got nothing?

Sadly, a lot of people who helped vote Youngkin into office don't even use the public schools. My sister and her husband for example. Now their kids go to private anyway, so what was the point? Another very pro Youngkin family we know homeschools and always has.
