Looks like someone isn’t getting the type of business opportunities they were hoping for.
I can’t imagine the community members were too thrilled about their arrival. |
This is kind of funny. The British tabloids are already having to regurgitate stories and make up new narratives for last week’s news. They lost access and it shows! |
Except that Page Six is a US publication. |
That first paper is terrible. But I don’t get why the second one is bad. “Harreyed” like “harried” (ie nagged)? |
Y’all that’s a My Fair Lady reference. A major song in the movie is “I’m getting married in the morning.” Learn your musicals!

Can we talk about the reality / possibility that Meg was burning her self out a little bit?
We are not robots. A lot of the stuff she was doing was new, very high pressure. And then it seemEd like she went home, just to plan and work more stuff behind the scenes. She reminds me of myself (ok, only sometimes), and friends I know that work really hard ... and we forget to STOP and have fun for more than a day. We turn out a lot of good work; people are always coming back to us; even if we’re relaxing we still have some wheels turning about what’s next. Remember when Michelle Obama said something like “slow down.”? I think all of this could be a small factor. |
| I started watching the Hallmark Channel when I simply couldn't stand to hear another word about Trump. This past weekend there was a movie with Meghan Markle on the Hallmark Channel called "When Sparks Fly". Check it out. |
Couple of responses. I saw a little bit of this too. Honestly we can’t really know these people, so I give all of them the benefit of the doubt. I’m sure all figures in this story have good intentions, including MM. -her maternity leave seemed busy. And then they needed a break following it. I wish she and Harry would be an example of taking a solid maternity leave. It could highlight the issue for others. I know she didn’t do more than 1 or 2 engagements.. but Didn’t she do the vogue issue during that time? And was obviously setting up her capsule collection? Planning the Africa tour? -I remember her stating many things about hitting the ground running when they were engaged or early on. when I have worked with people like that, it can be very exciting to bring someone in with that attitude. However, it’s not always healthy. I’m not commenting on Meghan as much as I am about the phenomenon. Listen, my husband has a very emotional, high-stress job. (Think ER doc). He knows that you have to take things slow and steady. You have to take time off. New processes and policies change for the better over time. It does no one any good to come in fast. When he & I see this, we also see a toll being taken in the background. Those with that attitude seem confident but they are usually trying to prove something. Maybe compensating for something deep down. Ha I should know. Again, less of a specific comment on Meghan bc/ I don’t know her. |
As any good executive can tell you, sometimes people are not ready and/or not a good fit for the role. I think that was the case with both Meghan and Harry. I think the RF would have created something that fit them, but they seem to lack situational awareness and really blew up their chances. |
That was all staging work for their next phase. It involved building a profile and securing connections (Michelle Obama, Hillary, Ellen, Beyoncé etc). They had already started discussions with the Palace by then, and by all accounts had made bought domain names, trademarked Sussex Royal etc. I'll speculate things went sour right after the wedding and they had been mulling this for a while. |

the palace offered them the opportunity to step back BEFORE the wedding.
This was not their idea originally but a fall back position when things were not working out on several fronts. |
| So considering the palace offered them non-working roles before they even got married, it appears that MM and Harry disregarded everyone's advice and forged ahead as senior royals, refused the advice and assistance of the experienced royal PR/stylist/etiquette/legal teams offered to them, bombed in their roles spectacularly (shocker), then threw a major tantrum over not being able to leave immediately with all of the benefits they believed they deserved, all the while blaming everyone else along the way. I'm beginning to see a pattern here... |
I think she was done with them right after the wedding. Not sure if you have seen footage of the wedding, but during the sermon by the very jubilant black pastor, half the church was trying hard not to crack up. I think she took that very personally and many were on her hit list. Starting with upstaging poor Eugenie; she announced pregnancy during cocktails (right after ceremony) and declined to attend the night reception. |
I don't think it's fair to say they bombed spectacularly. By all accounts, they did have some successes - Harry with his mental health awareness and veteran initiatives and Meghan with her capsule wardrobe and foreign tours. I think before the interview drama, they could count solid successes to their name. Obviously not everything they did was a success, but is that ever the case? |

I don't know if this has been posted before or not, but it's a fabulous and pragmatic overview over the whole Meghan and Harry situation by a knowledgeable royal watcher and published in Vanity Fair. Well worth the read.
