FCPS is moving forward with a regulation for gender-identity non-discrimination to be approved in the July 14th school board forum meeting.
The regulation which was revealed Friday, July 1, a day after their public meeting, with no indication that it was forthcoming for the next forum meeting. While the regulation provides for some much needed changes, the regulation is severely flawed and violates many of our other student's rights. Please read, and sign our petition to demand transparency from our school board, community input, to protect our diverse modesty requirements where sex segregation is required, and fairness in our sex specific athletic programs. https://www.change.org/p/school-board-for-fairfax-county-public-schools-respect-all-student-rights-in-the-fcps-gender-identity-non-discrimination-policy We agree that a policy needs to move forward to protect the gender non-conforming students from bullying, harassment, and discrimination protection in educational programs and opportunities. This can, and must, be done, without compromising the areas of student life that demand sex specific policies, where gender identity is not interchangeable. |
| Ummm... This is a federal requirement. FCPS doesn't follow the law, they lose a ton of $$-- Title I & IDEA funds come to mind. But that's just the start. So: serious question before I sign. What is the plan to make this money up after FCPS gives the federal government the middle finger? |

From the petition: "We, the concerned parents of Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) students, unite demanding all of our student's rights be fairly respected in the forthcoming regulation detailing how to implement the gender identity addition to the nondiscrimination policy (Policy 1450)."
Wait - there aren't other concerned parents in FCPS? You are the only ones? And why do you expect others to sign a petition to protect your "student's rights"? If we are going to petition, shouldn't it concern more than the rights of one student? This is very confusing. I would be more inclined to sign a petition for additional funding for adult education programs. |
|
Another petition where religious "rights" trump basic human rights and decency?
Pass. If anyone knows of a counter petition, though, point me in that direction! |
There's no plan, of course. |
Neither is there a plan of how this policy is to be implemented. As far as I know, they still haven't defined the terms. Example: what does it take to claim a "gender identity" that is not your biological sex? Can it change from year to year, week to week, day to day? This sounds silly--but it is a valid question. How will this affect Title IX? How will it affect girls' sports? etc. If you don't want your daughter sharing a hotel room on a school trip with a transgender girl--can you object? |
Are you sure they have no plan? Or is it possible you're not privy to it? |
When this controversy first happened, there was a young lady who spoke at the school board meeting who did a separate interview on channel 4. She stated that she was gender fluid, that some days she identified as a girl and some days she identified as a boy, and it changed from day to day. I believe the interview day she identified las a girl but it has been a while |
What's your point? |
I think the point the PP was making is -- to paraphrase a candy commercial -- sometimes you feel like a male and sometimes you don't. (Mounds versus Almond Joy commercial. ) |
Have they figured out gender fluidity? Will a gender fluid teen be able to one day use the boys locker room one day and girls the next depending on how they feel each day? Or girls volleyball because she feels like a girl in the fall but boys baseball in the spring? If they have a plan they need to be open with parents. |
|
Would you be okay with a biological male who identifies as a female taking the title of female track/swim/soccer/basketball/field hockey star away from your daughter? And with that title a very nice scholarship?
Serious question. |
| I do not sign misrepresentative petitions like the OP's petition. |
|
OP.
Take your petition and shove it up your hateful ass. |
| I love how the Ubercons try to word it like they are protecting the rights of people when in fact they are invoking sharia law. |
