Fuel costs (transportation) make up a pretty significant part of food costs.

Presidential policies matter.

Fuel costs are low now. It doesn’t matter though because large food companies answer to shareholders that want year over year profit growth. So if they are still able to charge the same higher prices and enjoy the lower input costs, they will and shareholders win and the consumer loses. Vote with your dollar and support local farmers as much as you can.
