She’s a grown woman who is making choices for herself. We are all accountable for our choices.

So I've been reading a lot about this here, and on a Reddit page, and something I've been thinking about.

A few weeks ago I read somewhere (probably Reddit) that the Caldwell family (Joe's wife Kendra's family) were living in a house owned by the Duggars. A few months ago they moved out and into a different place (not owned by the Duggars.) People were saying it's because the Duggars had been letting them live there free, but now the Duggars wanted rent money.

I'm wondering if it's actually that they (the Caldwells) caught wind of the upcoming Josh arrest, and wanted to distance themselves as much as possible. Also, I'm wondering if any Duggar owned property could become subject to search in the upcoming weeks/months if they are looking for more evidence?

I think that house is the one that was given to Jed and his new wife katey.

It is not a defense to Josh Duggar’s actions, he should go to jail and never be near another child again. But there is a very good chance Josh was sexually abused when he was a child.

People keep posting this on this thread and while true, it's irrelevant. In isolated families, with more than just one child, sexual exploration can sometimes happen with siblings instead of with other children. It is wrong, but it's not the same as "normal" sexual abuse. It's situational, in part. For example, it's rampant in many Amish families.

Josh, however, continued his abusive behavior after he started to live in a larger community and in adulthood. He has shown himself to be a criminal.

We don’t know if an older man or woman abused him when he was a child. He could have been molested or even raped by an older man or woman when he was a kid, and that has in part caused what he is doing now. It’s not an “excuse” and he should go to jail and never be alone with any child again. Childhood sexual abuse is a hidden and ignored issue. Kids do not tell. Kids tell and are ignored. Kids tell and their parents decide to “deal with it” outside of the legal realm to save embarrassment to the family. Some parents just don’t care. It’s ugly af. But even if Josh was sexually abused as a kid by an adult, that’s not a defense or excuse. It’s good he will now (too damn late) face consequences. Although his mug shot was enough to make me hurl, and we don’t know if he was sexually abused as a kid, it’s gross to be “happy” about this. I feel very sorry for the kids that were abused to provide him his twisted and criminal and abhorrent “entertainment,” and his own kids, who effectively have ruined childhoods no doubt from their dad being a predator. It’s just gross and sad all around.

+1
Abuse - sexual, physical, emotional - is almost always cyclical. it's so hard to break the cycle and therefore gets "passed on" to the next generation.

Not condoning Josh at all, but I'm betting he was a victim himself.

DP. I don’t really care if he was a victim. We’ve all been victimized in one way or another - many of us very seriously. But, as human beings with agency, we all have a choice about what to do with our experiences of victimization and whether we let those experiences turn us into people who in turn victimize others. No one is saying it’s easy to make the right choices in life, but it’s what we all need to try to do.

Ok agree with much of this, but childhood sexual abuse isn’t a “try REALLY hard to deal with it on your own!!!” situation. Nothing prepares kids to deal with it. And if they don’t receive intense intervention and therapy they probably can’t do better. And it’s not an excuse. He should be jailed and dealt with harshly. As the law allows. I just reject the notion that people can overcome childhood sexual abuse without major help. His parents failed him and their daughters and their daughter-in-law and their grandchildren HORRIBLY. And the kids that he used for sexual gratification via computer.

I haven’t seen anyone say that child abuse victims shouldn’t get help. Of course they should! But at the same time, let’s not suggest that victims who don’t receive extensive treatment are doomed to be abusers or lead miserable lives. (Especially in a country like ours where it can be difficult and expensive to get that kind of professional help.) In the end, YOU are the main person responsible for who you are and what you do with your life. That’s true for all of us.

This. Many many many people have been abused as children and are NOT adult monsters doing the same. Please. The ability to “recover” is far more complex than that - involving education, resources, personal ability to be introspective, what memories you have or don’t have etc.

Her last child was born in November of 2019...

Who’s happy about this? Who in the world has expressed anything approaching happiness about this disgusting pervert?

If there’s an upside, it’s that hopefully the feds might be able to find more of the dirtbags in this ring.

This is as close as adults get to Christmas morning.

Yeah, my Christmas morning doesn’t involve clapping my hands in glee and giggling over a man being arrested and charged for downloading child pornography. I swear a good chunk of the people here don’t really care who is harmed as long as they can gossip about it.

Have ANY of the Duggar adult children attended university? Or their spouses?

Seems like all sons are either in construction/contractors or used car sales and all the daughters/wives are SAHMs with no formal education. How can this be? I can see some going this path, but NO ONE wanted to be any other type of professional??

Jill’s husband and Jinger’s husband each graduated from a four year college. Jill’s husband is currently in law school. John’s wife has her LPN. Jessa’s husband is currently attending community college. I don’t know about the rest of them.

What is “poor” about her? She clearly chose to have unprotected sex.

So you’re sorry for Josh Duggar? You must be mentally ill.

Because she was brainwashed to believe having to job, no education, getting married at 19 (or whatever young age) to another 19 yr old you have never been alone with and then having tons of kids is the smart and right choice in life. What could go wrong if it is what God wants??

She does not really have a choice, at least she doesn’t believe that she has a choice. Have you read the last 38 pages?

In America, we go to college, not to university.
