RM Cluster Overcrowding?

What about adding the additional wing to RM? I know it was cancelled but how much was it projected to cost? Could the city do a one time additional tax on residents and pass that money on to MCPS to be earmarked to school expansion?

Well, then TB is only candidate left to move. After moving TB citizens can have all the condos they want.

CG and RP is waiting for crown and it will take 10 years before we see crown. If TB moves now then CG and RP doesn't need to move to crown in future.

I'm wondering - are you zoned for Twinbrook?

I am in RP. If I was in TB, I will do anything in my capacity to stop more condos in TB when TB ES school is already 100+ %. I don't know why TB PTA is sleeping on this issue.

I don't want to pay extra tax to support more apartments in TC or TB. I already pay tax to help MCPS.

Developer who testified and trying to push was making a case for building more in TB zone. Same developer stated that 80% of his development in that area will go to WJ(future Woodward). It may make sense to shift entire TB to Woodward or Wheaton. That way more condos can be built in TB.

Moving Beall out should be looked as well, but there was no developer lobbying for building in Beall zone. I guess each community has to decide for themselves what they want. They want more condos or good education. I am in RP and I don't want more condos anywhere. I want minimum decent education for my kids. 120% itself is pretty bad, let's not make it worse by making a policy change to build lots of condos in RM cluster.

Something has to be done about the siitaution if citizens simply wants more condos.

Nobody's wanting to build at Rockville Town Center?

I suspect there are interested developer for TC as well, but as pointed out by some one , most of Beall area is walk zone to RM. So Beall can't be moved so easily. Having said that I know some cases where despite being close to on HS, students go to another HS.

Beall can be moved as easily as Twinbrook.

Both can be moved, but TB is easier to move.

Because Twinbrook parents are less likely to scream their heads off?

I don't recall TB PTA or many speakers from TB during the last work session. TB PTA should be heavily involved here because TB ES is already over 100%. I recon PTA is not much active in TB.

It's convenient that Twinbrook is the school that's somehow best to move, isn't it? But I think that you should show some more imagination and propose that RP be moved to Wootton. That will free up space at RM.

Wootton doesn't have space and there is less room to play around on that side of boundary. We have lots of HS on TB side. Also, this whole issue to raise RM limit is coming due to condos in TB. TB not being part of RM will allow TB to develop at faster rate.

What does that mean? If not to Wootton, Ritchie Park could be moved to Gaithersburg HS.

Churchill apparently has space...

You're getting off topic. The point of this thread is to condemn pro-development, pro-crowding hard liners like Mark Pierzchala and to rally the community against his idiotic plan. Keep the debate about the magnet out of this. Send an email to save the school/cluster, and you can rail against the magnet another day.

The point of this thread is to discuss capacity issues at Richard Montgomery HS, isn't it? Moving Beall ES to Rockville HS and/or Ritchie Park ES to Gaithersburg HS would solve those problems.

Moving Ritchie Park to Gaithersburg HS???? Have you ever set foot in the RM cluster? Most of RP can walk to the school, or is just across Falls in Horizon Hill. Stop throwing out completely useless suggestions that are not grounded in any reality. Do you even know where Gaithersburg HS is? It's way up 270. Come on.
