If Democrats cave this time around, they face the same situation in November, with the holidays right upon us. And once Republicans know they can play with the threat of firing federal workers, they'll use that threat over and over. Only in November, they'll add a bunch of stuff Democrats won't like.

If you cave to a bully once, they're not going to stop, and instead, will keep pushing you for more and more.

FDA commissioner has said that they are exempt.

I am not considered essential but my role is required by the constitution. Non essential for a short time does not mean useless.

The only bullies are Democrats. No wonder more and more Americans, of diverse backgrounds, are joining the Republican Party.

Mine is required by congressional statute but I'm not essential. They need me, I'm just not related to life and safety.

This is true for most at my agency, too.

The hope is that everyone will join the Republican Party and there will be no more need for elections!
