Faith in Schumer's ability to surrender.

From what I’ve heard this time one issue is he’s more pressured by the prospect of AOC running against him in the next NY primary.

I mean, she’ll likely win regardless of what he does with respect to the shut down.

Dinosaurs of all political stripes need to gracefully make way for the next generation while they are still compos mentis.

Many government workers will not be returning to work after the shutdown. What is the point of having non essential workers on the payroll. Laid off will mean not returning.

The Dems are foolish to allow a Shut-Down to happen. Trump will do more executive orders, more than now. It gives Trump a back-door way to further cut the civil service and eliminate departments. One and 1/2 years from now - the election - voters will not remember the details clearly enough to blame the party that was in power, the Republicans.

And I would imagine that seven or eight Democratic Senators will agree and want to avoid the shutdown.

This is literally what was said in March and then people were still fired and agencies were gutted, plus Trump got his BBB.

This is what worries me. This isn’t a normal shut down. Many of us could lose our jobs when the govt does reopen since Trump will use this as an opportunity to RIF and we won’t be notified until that happens. Really stressful and hard to plan ahead with the unknown but this is what Vought wants for us.

+1. This is what I’m thinking too.

In March I was opposed to a shutdown and worried about mass RIF. Shutdown avoided, and then not long after came the April Fools Day massacre at my agency.

It reminds me of the fall of Iraq, apolitical workforce under Hussein and with all the skills experience, were trated as dirt by the US gov’t, which installed political hacks, cronies and know-nothings.

DJT’s vision is to make America great again. Federal employees will likely feel short term pain, but we must all sacrifice for America’s long term success.

Wow, what a convincing argument!

What is the long term vision?

We are desperately trying to hire. Nothing matters.
